If you struggle with math I highly recommend taking this class with another professor. He is not a very friendly man and is very stuck in his ways with teaching. I had a tutor and failed the first exam and didn't do so well on the second. I had to withdraw. There are other professors available who want you to succeed.

This professor was the worst teacher I have ever had for a math class. He often gets confused with what he is saying, does not know how to make up example problems to help the class to understand concepts, and his exams were difficult and graded harshly. If he is the only professor available, wait to take the class another semester. Not worth it

I hated this class. Professor was horrible, wrote fast and small. I sat in the back of the classroom and couldn't read anything. Failed two tests (didn't understand it), had to withdrawal. Took STAT this semester with a different professor, less notes that were easier and I'm doing very well. PLEASE don't take him!

Terrible Prof. Wants to see you struggle with his work. Makes constant errors/has no idea what he's doing. My first Student Advisor actually told me not to take him; I should've listened. If Academic advisors are telling you to steer clear, he's probably pretty bad.

Absolutely everything a teacher shouldn't be. He just copies on a board from his own notes that have mistakes. He can't explain even simple math without using HIS complicated and outdated methods. I'm an above level math student that had to re-take a 100-level math due to transfer problems. Harder than calc, stat, and finance classes i've taken

started every class by telling us all we were gonna fail. didnt help. made us feel stupid for asking questions. got an a in this class in high school, theres no reason i should fail his class. i had to withdrawal, because it was the only class i wasnt getting an A in. i dont recommend him, for algebra anyway

Nice guy. But he begins the class with "if you don't need to take algebra for your major, take MAT103." Class average on the first exam was a 46. Takes attendance. Horrible handwriting and goes very fast. All he teaches is what is on the 50+ pages on notes we are supposed to print out and the examples are the same. Had to withdrawal.

Dr. Caspar is an interesting professor. Nice guy but pretty bad teacher. He has some good stories but is boring most times. He has TERRIBLE handwriting so either sit in the front or get glasses. Don't get the textbook. HW is not graded, never did one and scraped a C out of it. Tests are hard but it's out of 110 points so EC is worked into it.

Nice professor, but boring class. Straight lecture. No graded hw, though it would help to actually do. Exams are pretty difficult. Professor is bad at understanding questions, so if you're bad at math, sign up for a tutor. Don't buy the textbook; we didn't use it once.

I have no idea why there are so many bad comments about this guy. He was very helpful and if you know how to pay attention you will be fine. As long as you have a decent understanding of math you will pass easily. I skipped at least once a week. I once missed a test and HE approached ME asking if I would like to take it for full credit. Great class

Ok so let me clear some of this up. He isnt the best teacher by far but he trys. He stands infont of his work after he write it and thats annoying but he DOESNT give homework, Hes letting my class RETAKE A TEST we fail and he is very helpful in office hours and he knows the information well. Just pay attention and you got this.

WORST TEACHER EVER. Do not take. Tries to talk to you and make conversation and gets mad if you don't respond. Spends 20 minutes doing problems wrong on the board and never knows how to fix them. Office hours weren't helpful at all.

Horrible prof. His class is 100% notes and all he does is give examples, but never actually explains anything. He confuses himself and the entire class at least once a day. Avoid him if possible. Not that you'll find much better at WCU.
