i mean the class is easy if you have taken precal before. tests are all show your work. he is monotone and has dry humor which he doesnt even know. kinda makes you feel stupid if you ask a question and i quote "your the only person in the universe who could divide by zero" only hw is webwork. but he isnt our teacher anymore, health issues..

Horrible teacher, I would not reccommend AT ALL. He does every example straight from the book, and moves very fast. If you get behind, than forget it cause your screwed.

Maier knows his calculus but he does not have the best teaching methods. There is no asking questions in class, and if you try to say something he will either ignore you or not hear you. He does let you know what is expected of you, quizzes easy, and only homework is webwork so that isn't too bad. Don't take him if you haven't had calculus before.

I wouldnt take this class he is really boring and not a very good teacher. He encourages questions but then makes you feel stupid for asking them. he is also clueless about some things, and thinks every thing is easy as pie and requires "no work"

I must say he is the worst teacher Ive had so far. Had i seen this site before hand i wouldnt have taken him for this class. He never listens to what the students have to say and he constantly tells the class that they will fail if certain things dont happen. Not very encouraging at all seeing that Calc is already a difficult subject.

i have never had trouble in a math class but this class has made me hate it. he talks in a monotone voice, repeats himself, and copies every example from the book onto the board. his tests are about 10 multi-part free response questions and its very easy to get points marked off. don't take him!

Do NOT take this class at 8 a.m.! He is a nice man and encourages questions but he is SO boring and it was extremely frustrating because math has never been hard for me but I ended up with a C. He writes on the board and faces it almost the entire class period. But, hw quizzes are easy and if you do webwork, you'll be fine.

This professor knows math well. HOWEVER he is extremely boring. Monotone voice, (hes been teaching math here for 34 years), and if you ask certain questions in he will treat you like you are an idiot. Helpful in office hours. He is fair for the most part. Gives easy home work quizes, tests are of moderate difficulty. I would not recommend.

This guy is a joke. He has horrible people skills and snaps at students for asking questions. Spends time on a lot of material not needed and doesn't understand simple statements from students. Easy HW Quiz and test arn't bad because he gives out a practice copy before hand. Helps you out 1 on 1 just not in front of the class. Boring. Boring. Rude.

Not a good teacher but not a hard one either. He dosent really take attendance and is one of the few 1103 math teachers who actually speak English. If you ask him a question he will make you feel stupid by saying oh thats an easy one. He teaches some stuff thats pointless then after he teaches it he will say oh you dont need that for the test!

Teaches fairly s-l-o-w and is the epitome of monotone - put the guy behind me to sleep everyday. Explains in excessive complexity. Tests are easy - uses over a 10pt grading scale. If you do the homework (web-based, not difficult) you'll be fine. Homework grade is factored into test score. Book is unnecessary other than to explain topics better.

If you want to pass, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He curves like crazy at the end of the semester. I thought I was going to have a D, and I ended up with a B. All in all, hes a great professor once u get past his boring voice. He explains everything sometimes a little too well. The webwork isnt bad. Just come to class most of the time and u'll be fine.

Seems to explain things in a hard way.. like he'll explain where all the quations come from and stuff, which can be annoying. 87 is an A and he's always there to help. Helps a lot with studying for exams and common final.

Pretty easy class. If you show up for class everyday, he'll cut you a lot of slack. Occasional quizzes are VERY EASY. Tests aren't that hard either. Webwork hw everyday, but it's no big deal. He explains everything and if you don't know something, just ask and he'll tell.

One thing that will make or break you in this class are office hours. If you have any question on the homework or webwork or a concept, go to office hours. He is extremely helpful 1 on 1, after you get over the way he makes you feel stupid.
