My problem was not that she was a bit harsh critiquing essays, its how she did it. Honestly, she made me feel completely incompetent as a student. If your not a good writer, good luck. Not very understanding and quite rude.

I recommend Dr. Smart if you want to be a better writer. The first half of the semester was working on one paper, where she goes through the process one step at a time. She is quite frank in her reviews, but don't get upset. She grades hard, but fair. Plenty of small, reasonable assignments to help with your grade. I enjoyed her and her class.

If you want interesting reading and creative writing adventures her classes won't disappoint. You do write a good amount, which is expected in a writing class. Professor Smart gives good feedback when addressing what is missing in your writing and what can help make it stronger. There is usually two peer review sessions per semester.

Avoid at all costs. She is not friendly at all and will get very snippy, especially over email/phone. Very disrespectful and her feedback doesn't help, just makes you feel like a horrible writer. DO NOT TAKE!!

tough grader but helps you get ready for english 111 which is the whole point of the class. helps you if you need it, is strict with few things but they aren't unreasinable. if you direspect her she will hold it against you so don't do stupid stuff and you'll be fine. as long as you pay attention in class and do the work the class is easy.

She's a very rude person. When you talk to her, she talks down to you like you're stupid. She's a very harsh grader. If she doesn't like something you write, she will make you rewrite it even though it may be due in just a few days. Worst teacher I've ever had by far. I would definitely not recommend her to anyone. GET OUT while you still can.

I just finished eng 111 online and I really enjoyed my semester with Dr. Smart. Like any class you are expected to read and participate. This is a writing intensive class so expect to write. She is fair when she grades. Do the work and enjoy the class.

Worst professor I have ever experienced at my time in Clarion. She takes forever to give back trades, is never fully prepared, unorganized, her assignments are never clear, and lets her personal opinions affect grading. Rude through email, I asked her clarification on a due date and she was very snippy and refused to answer my question DO NOT TAKE!

She changes assignments because she is unprepared. She grades them as hard as she can to give you the worst grade possible. She has an attitude. She doesn't respect her students at all. If you want someone who unhelpful, rude, egotistical, and has an attitude, then go for it. Otherwise, I suggest choosing somebody else. She simply sucks.

Very rude when emailing you or talking over the phone. Expects you to spend hours on just one assignment. She doesn't clarify instructions very well, but grades you very tough. She simply doesn't like to grade anything. English department is very unhelpful and rude. I don't recommend her at all. She need an attitude adjustment.

She's one of my favorite professors! She has an attitude, but that's only if you don't do your work. You get out of class a lot and she gives you a point a day for just showing up, then 10 points later on. She is a very harsh grader and sometimes the assignments seem pointless, but trust me, they do come into play later. Overall, great teacher :)

Horrible, Dont take if you're a guy. If you are, suck up to her and agree with everything she says or your likely to get a D. Always "too busy" to help. I followed the paper guide lines exactly and went to all classes, still got D's on my papers. Girl students said they should have gotten at least a B. EXTREMELY BIASED PROFESSOR
