Julia is very knowledgeable in her field but it feels as if she speaks primarily about her projects and does not offer generally applicable information about architecture. Does not successfully engage students or stimulate interest in subject matter. Lectures do not seem pertinent. Worksheets are used for attendance for part of the semester.

Comment:

While the course was extremely ambiguous, I learned more than I had expected to through the group project. However, the project was frustrating, as it required coordination of team members to meet up and analyze sites off-campus. Lectures and readings were dry and I had a hard time maintaining interest. Julia was hard to talk to.

I took a BDA design workshop with James and I thought he was unorganized but that took a whole new meaning when I took 3711w. Both James and Julia are bouncing around issues like ping pong balls without any coherence to what either of them are talking about. I still have no idea what this course is specifically about.

I had no idea what the point of this class was. It was super chaotic and jumped all over the place. Half the time I didn't even know what she was talking about because she says the simplest things in the most abstract way. Also you have to do a group project that is absolutely horrendous and I didn't learn anything from it. Awful teaching and class

This is the most disorganized class I've ever taken. The syllabus takes up an entire website, and it's full of conflicting information. Never right-out describes any of her expectations, just talks around them. In lectures, she talks so fast that you can't absorb any information. Also rude. She once yelled at me for coming in late.

She's terrible. Goes off on pointless tangents and ruins the lectures. Thinks she knows more than she really does and doesn't act on what she preaches. First time co teacher james wheeler is the best thing that ever happened to the class, hopefully he takes over he is amazing

This class has such potential, but the professor ruins it. She spends 15 minutes talking ABOUT what we're going to be doing, then complains about not having enough time. She glosses over important lessons and focuses on completely irrelevant articles. Avoid this course if you see she's the teacher.

She was the worst professor I have had by far. She never knew when anything was due or even what exactly was required. She never gives a direct answer & if she does it is 95% of the time inconsistent with what she has told the TAs. Her entire lecturing is disorganized/confusing. I will not ever take a class by choice if I see she is the professor

Very disorganized. Unfortunate that class is required for arch majors. Prof very boring and gives awful lectures. TA's don't know what's going on either. Not worth my time or money. Very disappointed.

Julia isn't as bad as these people are making her seem. Although her teaching and lecturing skills are not amazing, she is very intelligent and cares a lot about her students and their experience with this class. I would recommend this class; Julia teaches important topics that are crucial in current design.

She isn't even an architect. Her presentations are often interupted by bad spelling mistakes (which she wants none of from her students). She makes everything she teaches seem irrelevant to the subject.
