What a horrible professor. He gave us a take home final that included 3 x 1500 word essays with only nine days to complete the assignment. Terrible, terrible, arrogant person.

Awful Prof. Long winded and useless. I learned absolutely nothing in his class: if you are at all interested in history, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! If you cannot avoid it, however, don't worry: you'll do fine if you can write clearly. Anything he teaches is a waste of time.

Very, very unclear about his expectations. The class syllabus did not have adequate information on grading, essay format, and expectations. He mentioned moodle in passing, however, there is zero indication on the syllabus that all the readings are posted there. Quite heavy workload, annoying arrogant teaching style. Avoid!

He made the material interesting, but uses no lecture notes (powerpoint, overheads, etc.) you have to write down what he says very quickly. A small recorder is a good idea. Lots of reading in the two texts is necessary to do well in the class.

Yeah. Not the biggest fan of this guy. He was a good enough professor and classes weren't boring, but the exams weren't flexible (same kind of question, same format, every exam), and he was a little 'holier-than-thou' at times. He almost scared me out of never taking another history class again, but that's just silly. Take caution; that's all I say

He is terrible. He condescends to his students and takes forever to make a simple point. By far the most frustrating course I've ever been in, because he didn't teach anything, yet wouldn't shut his mouth.

Take history of the Mundane-a badly named course but the best class I've EVER taken in 4 years. It will change your perspective on life. To sum up Prof. Martin: you'll hate him the 1st course with him, deal with him the 2nd and LOVE him by the the third. He grows on you, as does his arrogance. The crummy mark is worth the knowledge.

I could take a different class and get a higher grade, but his lectures are so good, I'll take the B+! He's funny and doesnt' speak to students as idiots. No need to buy the text. All you need in in class and online.

There is no question that this prof is intelligent. However, when you speak to your students as you would your peers or others with an extensive history background, there is a problem. In an intro class, he expected everyone to know everything already. Exams were OK but marking was VERY hard. Texts didn't help. Not a recommended class or prof.

Lectures are interesting. But there is a lot of reading that just doesn't seem like it needs to be done. Hard marker. Leaves no comments on exams, just a letter. Avoid. But he did have AWESOME posture.

lectures are actually interesting- he has a great sense of humour. dont take this class unless you like writing essays- his essay topics are always related to a specific lecture so going to class and studying is a must. boring text books though.

Took his class as an option and now regret it. Reminds me a lot of an old Law Prof I had- Gerry Gall- very full of himself and wants the world to know he's important.
