She was a awesome professor when I took her. She was always available to answer questions. Going to class was very important because there were book discussions and other activities she provided. She always gave her honest opinion and was always encouraging and supportive. There of course was lots of homework and projects on top of reading.

This was not an English class and she is not your typical English teacher. She turned it into her own version of Fox news and all we wrote about was violations of amendments. She was rude and yelled at people. 2 girls actually started crying. She is very unclear about her grading system. She made us buy way more materials than we used. She was mean

Very bad teacher, retiring at the end of this semister (thank god) gave a WEEK to do a four page paper, with 2 self evaluations and a peer evaluation, on top of not explaining the focus of the paper, or even explaining what went wrong with previous papers...she is just a terrible teacher and should have never been allowed to teach.

she is very smart and is well educated but is unclear when explaining what she wants in a paper. papers are done in steps but steps are somewhat irrelevant to actually improving your paper. ask looots of questions if you want to know exactly what she wants from a paper. work load isnt horrible but will keep you busy.

She gives out A LOT of work, so make sure you stay on top of it, it gets pretty stressful if you have a job, or a lot of other homework but I managed to get it done. Make sure you take it with more than one class. She yelled at lot of students if they didn't have homework done on time. Likes to treat people like middle children. In front of class.

Julie Colish is a phenomenal teacher and is really good at what she does. The class has a fair amount of work, but if you keep on top of it, it will be fine. She is great to take English 112 with and really cares about making sure that students understand how to write. Some students do not like the class, but it is worth it to take.

If you're poor at composition, you will struggle. Julie expects an inordinate amount of prior knowledge from students. She also constantly interjects her own political opinions during class, and it is comically obvious. I personally don't disagree with most of her views, but this is a VERY irresponsible thing to do with a room of students.

I had Professor Colish last summer and wanted to come back to tell everyone to pay attention to what she says, learn all you can from her because you'll need a high level of ability for the higher courses. It may seem pointless now but you'll appreciate her later in your academic careers. Professor Colish is AWESOME and she cares.

Professor Colish makes her class both challenging and manageable, an environment where you actually work and learn! She is always available, pleasant, and extremely helpful. This is college, folks, you should want to walk away from a class more intelligent than you walked in, Professor Colish aims for just that.

Professor Colish is very tough but I learned so much from her. She's more than fair, gives plenty of time for each assignment, continually reminds you of what is due, and offers help throughout the course. It's an easy A if you work hard and apply yourself.

Comment:

Yes, she assigns a decent amount of homework, but it's college...get used to it. She gives you plenty of time to finish the assignments and even accepts late work. Also, she lays everything out at the beginning of the year on a daily assignments sheet, so that it is nearly impossible to be unprepared for class. An "A" is very achievable.
