Comment:
I personally enjoyed Junior Year Writing with Julie, but this might have to do with the fact that I'm concentrating in cultural anthro and was already familiar with a lot of the material. Bio and archaeology students might felt left out in this class. Her feedback on assignments was thorough and the multiple drafts really helped my writing improve.

Julie seemed to be a really great person. However, this course has nothing to do with anthropology, it is all about theory. This is what I found frustrating. She is a great professor, but the material and the class was awful.

Professor is nice and means well but the class itself is not all that interesting. If you go to class and do the readings you should do fine. It is not the best class for a gen ed or intro but it's not terrible.

She completely ignores 3 of the subfields of anthro. The only writing she taught was political and paper analysis. She was also rude and flat out rejected any conflicting opinions. My advice: if she's teaching, take it another semester.

This class is pretty easy. I was always confused on how to cite her definitions because she must have gotten them from somewhere. Tests were pretty easy but you do need to know the stuff. If you don't want to go to every class, team up with someone and exchange notes. This works just fine and she doesn't take roll.

Boring but pretty easy. Don't sit in the aisle, I did once and she literally spit a chunk of food on my arm.

Comment:
Professor Hemment does not deal well in a big class situation and has trouble contolling it. She doesn't go in depth about anything and only skims the surface. She also sees everything from a strictly feminist perspective and will refuse to even talk about other points of view. It is easy with a lot of BS.

Pretty easy class, just 4 non-cumulative tests. Boring sometimes but explains things very well. I would take again for this course. Has a fun accent,

TA grading is easy. You don't have to go to lecture, but the definitions from there are important. Easy definitions or concepts are described with huge words, you just have to put it in your own words so you understand.

her class turned me away from anthropology... she likes to talk a lot about random things and is not intriguing.

The discussion for the class is really interesting and almost fun.. but the lecture is confusing. So many long, random definitions are thrown at us with very little explanation of how each term relates to one another.
