Karen is very passionate about her subject. She means well. I took this class to get a GE out of the way. Since it is a GE class titled "Movie Mania" I figured we would just be watching movies for 4 hours a week. We did watch movies, but she also discussed the movies for a long time afterward! There were also quizzes and 2 "essay like assignments".

If you're not a CART major/minor, please do not take this class. It's such a pain. Davis means well, but this class is not the most enjoyable. The out-of-class essays are annoying-but-doable but the in-class essays are absurd. Two 3 page in-class essays for a final? Ridiculous. It's a relatively easy class, but honestly, avoid it if you can.

Most boring class ever in my opinion!!!! She goes on for days talking about the same thing. Isn't clear on what is going to be on the quiz's more like read the book. If you enjoy watching silent films from the 1900's in black and white over and over again, then its for you.

Easiest class I've taken. Yes it's s 4 hr class but you can eat, study for other classes, sit with friends and talk during movies. I got an A and I slept through half the movies. Only need textbook for quizzes unless you really pay attention during lecture.

Film Appreciation was a good experience for me at the SRJC. Davis offers an insight into the film industry because she has worked within it for years. Most of the films were on IMDb's 'Top 250' list and we got to watch some of the best films ever created; great selection of films. Also in-class essays are timed. I would recommend this class.

Ok so she means well. buuuut any opinion that is opposite of yours is wrong. You MUST agree with everything she says. Tries to dig too deep into movies to what seems at time making up reasons the film can be about. Easy class for the most part but again unless you agree with her throw your opinions out the window.

She was a great, enthusiastic professor! Easy A if you do all the work and attend class! It can be tempting to not go on occasions, trust me! But, as long as you stick with it you'll get an A! I mean all you have to do is sit and watch movies, nothing to complain about there!

Easy class. Simply show up, watch a movie (Rock N' Roll movie), discuss, and leave. Normally the class time will run ~3 hours but for an easy "A" and 4 units, what more do you want? Totally recommand it.

Class is ridiculously easy. It's the kind of class where it's embarrassing if you don't get an A. Most of the stuff taught in class is common sense (if you are familiar with music) and even if you aren't a lot of the stuff covered on quizzes are said in lecture and seen in movies. You definitely don't need the textbook. Definitely a cool lady!
