Comment:

Professor Dawes really puts in the extra effort to make sure her students are learning the material. She truly cares about her students and offers a ton of extra credit opportunities. There are a few tests, but with online, only one is proctored. Weekly quizzes, but offered up to 10 times with the highest grade recorded, minimal discussion boards

I took the class online, and her blackboard page is hard to navigate. Tests are multiple choice and easy, her discussion board assignments are rough, not hard but meeting her requirements will make your head hurt. Follow her instructions and it is an easy A.

Comment:

Not many tests (but theyre multiple choice). Several projects and online quizzes (which you can take up to 10 times). Has a habit of yelling and making threats when participation is low. SHE TAKES OFF POINTS FOR TURNING IN ASSIGNMENTS THE DAY THEYRE DUE!!! The does grade by the rubric and have it clearly marked with what areas you missed.

This class is the worst, most disorganized, difficult for no reason courses I've ever taken in my life. My biggest pet peeve about her style is that she actually docks points if you submit your assignment ON TIME, but submit it on the last day instead of spread out throughout the week. I work full time & take other classes. Terrible experience.

Professor Dawes is a great professor, however, is extremely unorganized. Her blackboard page is almost impossible to navigate. She does have at home weekly quizzes for her sociology class that can really boost your grade if you are having trouble on tests. SHE SENDS A PLETHORA OF ANNOUNCEMENTS ALL AT ONCE, which tend to get confusing.

Professor Dawes' class is one of the hardest I've ever taken. Her blackboard site is hard to navigate because she has everything in separate folders and It's all over the place. Lots of resources though if you can find them. It's hard to keep up with what is due. There's a minimum 10 page paper for an INTRO class. Very nitpicky grader. Liberal.

I really enjoyed taking sociology with Ms. Dawes. I found her to be straightforward, caring, genuine and fair. The work was not hard yet I found that it was a lot of reading and I didn't always find some of the test questions to correlate with what I read. Within the grading rubric she outlined exactly what she was looking for and graded according

I took her online class and I definately would not take her again, but she was an okay teacher. You have to be specific during discussion posts since she is a hard grader. Tests were long and YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK!!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE if Dawes is your teacher. Her grading is ridiculous, you could write an awesome paper and still get a failing grade because you didn't fully "follow her directions". Her directions are all over the place and not organized at all. I wish I would have read this site before taking her class. Most definitely would not recommend

I wouldn't recommend taking this course online. The grading is extremely subjective. In my opinion, If you're an "A" student typically, you'll struggle for a B in this class, due to the grading method used for the discussion board.

I wouldn't recommend taking Mrs. Dawe's online course for sociology. Only for the fact that I believe that this course is mostly opinion based. I hate that this class is required for nursing. Totally boring and uninteresting. Mrs. Dawes seems like a no nonsense kind of teacher. However, she does respond to emails & gives feedback on all assignments

Professor Dawes is an awesome teacher! She makes it clear what she expects from you, but is still very friendly. She has such a kind heart and is just an all around good person! Just pay attention and you will definitely pass. She gives many chances to receive extra credit. She's a great asset to Wake Tech!

I took this class online. Honestly, I didn't do much except the discussion board for attendance and a paper at the end of the semester (not hard). I didn't even buy a textbook. I came out with a C without trying.

Fantastic teacher! She is very clear in what she assigns and expects college students to be able to follow her detailed directions. She was always willing to talk to me via email or cell phone about anything, class or non-class related and met with me to give feedback about a paper she had assigned. I love her and wish she taught more classes!

"liberal" comment, prob true, which was good for me. Loved this class. Halloween she talked on the phone with me about a weekly discussion I was having trouble with as she was giving out candy (gives her cell# out & is available and eager to help). Learned much about the world and myself. Everyone needs to take at least 1 sociology course in life.

Liberal. be careful what you post. Follow the instructions she gives you to the letter. I would have had an A had I realized that a bit sooner. Be prepared to work very hard. READ every chapter assigned. Pay very close attention to the differences in the terms.
