Dr. Mitchell is very smart and knows what she is talking about. But she can be very hard to follow since she takes the most complicated method of doing an assignment. But if you ask questions, she'll happily answer them. Give her a chance and you'll do fine as long as you pay attention, ask questions, and do the work.

DO NOT take this class unless you understand the theories behind calculus. That is all she teaches on but if you are lucky she will work out one problem in a very confusing way. Ive never had a problem with math but I dropped along with 10 others because we were all failing And she cancels class ALL the time, by midterms we were still on chapter 1

Don't take Karen Mitchell's classes unless you already know the material! When she tries to help she just confuses the students more. She also ridicules your previous math teachers and your experiences. I would not recommend taking her class to anyone.

Canceled class over 70% of the time for some reason or another. Homework is confusing, copied and pasted from other courses, and is not discussed or explained in class. Has very high expectations, yet gives no effort to the class herself. Never gave back any homework or quizzes no feedback. Constantly "lost" things. Class was a joke. NEVR again.

She has strengths and weaknesses. She is frequently late for class (5+ mins, which is annoying in a 50 min class) and often goes over. She really want you to learn, but isn't always very clear when explaining things. Tests are long and difficult. She is genuinely nice and cares, but overall does not have great teaching strategies.

I had Dr. Mitchell for three math classes while I was at Marshall. I thought she was great. She is a professor who would spend hours with you if you needed it. She actually cares whether or not you learn the material. Her tests are very long--make sure you leave nothing blank, as she is the queen of partial credit!

SHE IS AWESOME!!! I had her for two math classes and she was one of the best teachers i've ever had. Very willing to help and is great at explaining the material. I would higly recommend her to anyone! She's also very funny!

I love this professor!! I took Dr. Mitchell for three required classes. I wish she taught more. The material was hard but she was an awesome, down-to-earth professor making the courses much easier. She is also a VERY funny person.
