Comment:
Other professors want you to identify/write exams that require analysis of the tiniest details; with Pearlston keep it simple. She isn't out to get you. Pay attention to the simplicity of how she teaches, that is how she wants it answered. Don't try to be 'extra' clever. I went from a C- on my first midterm to A- final grade once I figured this out

Actually not as bad as people say. Not "good" per se, but if you get a good CAN and update it yourself you'll do OK. Her exams are massive though so pay attention to time or you'll be in trouble.

Yikes. This prof is aggressively awful. She reads directly from the textbook, is unclear on the principles of what she's teaching and assigns grades apparently at random. She's unprofessional during office hours, running 65+ minutes late, not answering questions clearly, and being rude to students. A good academic but a bad teacher.

Terrible. Unpreapared, reads directly from the book, evasive when it comes to answering questions and has on occasion admitted she has no idea what we are asking or what the answer is when she does know what the question is. Arbitrary grades - they don't seem to be consistent with submitted work and her "template" answers. Snippy and rude.

She doesn't seem to try very hard to prepare for class, and then spends way too much time in class reading the reading we were assigned. She is easily frustrated and snippy during class. Questions seem to inconvenience her.

Pretty boring lectures, but she's very helpful in office hours. If you read everything assigned (especially the online readings), you can do very well!

Horrible professor. Stay away from at all costs!!!! Classes are boring, she's adversarial, and to make it worse her marking is totally random. She won't answer questions most of the time and even when seeing her in person she isn't helpful.

After torts, I vowed never to have her again. Never say never as I had to take Family with her. Pleasantly surprised. Print-out notes helpful, the textbook is interesting, and she's less defensive. Still room for improvement but much better.

Makes interesting courses painful to attend. Reads from the book, refuses to answer questions, and is disrespectful to students. My favourite Pearlston quote (written on a torts group paper which received a B-): "This is a waste of my time and yours." How's that for constructive criticism?!

Amazing class. Too much reading, and difficult, theoretical reading. But... amazing. Far and away the best class from her, and far and away the best class I took at law school -- maybe because it was not boring, or aimed at being a cog in the "lawyer factory" that is UNB law.

Comment:
Did she go to a non-accredited law school on the coast of Florida or California? She has no knowledge of the subject matter. If you ask her a question she will simply deflect it by saying that we will talk about that later, which we never do. Makes UNB Law school look bad.

Pearlston: A formula for frustration. Here's the mix: 1. Reads the text thus boring the bloody hell out of you. 2. Just when your defences are lowered makes some bloody idiosyncratic and by no means unassailable assertion in a mumble at the end of yet another monotone sentence.

Are you kidding me? She makes UNB Law look bad - if SHE has a job there is hope for EVERYONE. Reads only from text & takes attendance - how is that for infantilizing! Can not evaluate herself out of a wet bag & lies to cover her own disorganization & incompetence. Very sad reflects poorly on faculty

People don't give her the credit she deserves. She's a brilliant woman, who is a little awkard at teaching. At least she makes an effort to prepare (even if it feels like a dissertation), and will make time for you. Rather that than learn nothing- that's you, Chatterjee.

Unprofessional (rude and antagonistic toward students in class), deflects questions or flatly refuses to answer them, reads from text, highly suspect marking scheme, uninterested in material, draconian attendence policy, takes forever to return assignments, cant believe she is tenure tracked

Nice person... bad prof. Judging from her lectures, I'd say she hates teaching. Also, her marking scheme is highly questionable. Current battling for the title of "most complained about prof" with Chatterjee. UNB Law is going downhill fast
