Doesnt let discussion in class if it disagrees with her opinion. She always tell someone is her own opinion on the readings rather than breaking them down, classes are a waste of time

I actually really enjoyed Wendling as a prof. Class consisted of 2 essays and 1 final take home exam which was another essay. I got 80's on my papers, but the class average was 68 and I know people were disappointed in their mark. Maybe if they attended class they would have done better.. I would take her class again!

This course provided me a challenge in understanding the content and in meeting the expectations on the assignments. Prof. Wendling provided clear expectations and made the content more easily understandable. This course has led to a major improvement in my philosophical writing abilities and in my own understanding of justice.

This was the worst class and worst prof I have ever had. She is a rude person, clearly hates her life and hates her students. Her tests are SO unfair, one fill in the blank is worth 5 marks, if you get 1 wrong you get a 90, at MOST!!! THIS IS NOT A BIRD COURSE!!! DO NOT TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!! If you have the choice to take ANY other class EVER, do it.

Worst class ever. Didn't learn a thing in lectures, textbook is mandatory because you have to use the one she wrote. When it came to midterms I'm not even kidding a good 90% of the class had absolutely NO idea what we had learned the entire year. Lectures ramble on and little is learning. Terrible feedback.

The lectures appear to be put together on the spot and provide nothing useful. The class centres around assigned readings from a book that she wrote, which are long and boring. Tests involve taking one of the sides on issues discussed in the book.. Basically to do well in this class.. learn nothing and read her own book back to her. Brutal.

Her lectures feel more like seminars. I learned more in my seminar from my TA. As a person, she is nice. As a professor, I'm not a fan. Had a very "my way or the highway" attitude. Told students to voice their opinions, but told them they were wrong if she disagreed. Would spend half of a lecture arguing with students. Very off-topic sometimes.

Comment:
She's extremely scattered during her lectures, and seminars aren't very helpful either. She assigns readings that are a MUST to do well on tests. There are essays on each test and even though you think you did well you probably didn't. I cannot stress enough that you need to read the assigned readings, and I promise you they're ridiculously boring

She isn't clear at all while explaining anything. She jumps from topic to topic and is quite scattered.. I don't find her approachable or understanding. Highly opinionated and she doesn't care for other's thoughts/theories and shoots them down instantly. My worst prof of first year. I thought this course was going to be easy but it's boring.

She's really passionate about her work, but it can be difficult at times to follow what she is saying. She's eager to meet in office hours, and there are no midterms or exams (it's a take-home paper).

The absolute worst professor I have ever had in my 5 years at the University of Guelph. I am a solid B+/A- student and she (in my final semester) told me I didn't belong in university or Philosophy (my minor and the highest of my grades). Awful lecturer, very much so "my way or the highway" kind of attitude.

Nice enough in person. However she is a hard marker. She wrote rude and hurtful comments on mine and some other student's assignments, telling one that she had thinking problems, and telling people they were not god enough. After that I can guarantee I will never take a class with her again.

The big upside to this class was having NO textbook to purchase all readings were posted online. She does have a tendency to talk a lot about her experiences, particularly getting her PhD, but not in a conceited way. She has some ridiculous essay guidelines but follow the rules, think critically and you'll go far.

Wendling is a wonderful prof, and loves it when students actively engage her with the text. Relate the conversations you're having to what's going on in the texts for class, or other related texts, and you'll go far in her classes

Very simple yet effective with her lectures. She does a great job of clearly and concisely breaking down texts/arguments for you and is extremely thought provoking. Always there when you need help and is very interactive. T/A does most of the marking. If you like the topics you will love the course.

Eh.She goes down memory lane too much & talks about her brother, & especially her mom who has the best political views in the world apparently. Social & political issues is a good course if you have an interest in law. It isn't all philosophy stuff - we don't discuss many philosophers, just issues
