Yes, this is a massively complex class, but here's why: all the extra little assignments and quizzes are there to PAD YOUR GRADE so that you can get C's on the exams and end with an A. It's a fair class. USE THE STUDY GUIDES or you'll cover extra info. I did the hybrid version and loved it. A friend did the online version and had a hellish time.

There's actually a different lecturer each week for the class. Some lecturers are very interesting and others are extremely boring, it all depends on the subject matter. You have to read a chapter, take a quiz, write an essay, and do homework each week. The workload is heavy and the tests require a lot of studying to do well.

Kate Briggs was an amazing professor. She does very well at facilitating the largest class at the U of M and makes a good effort to make sure everything is explained very well in terms of grading. She responds very quickly to questions asked to her and is very lenient in terms of grading. As long as you stay on top of your homework, you'll be fine.

Do not recommend taking the online portion. There are weekly discussions and it is essential you participate by the deadlines or you wont pass. There is a ton of extra work require in order to get a decent grade. It is really easy to slip up and fall behind in this course. A lot of the work like online essays and quizzes are graded really harshly.

Lectures from guests, so quality varies. Moodle is essential to the class. Essays are auto-graded and you have one per week, plus a chapter quiz, 30-60 pages of reading, and 3 midterms + final exam. Actually not that hard if you just do the work and keep up, plus the subject material is fascinating. Great intro science class, emphasis on method.

You get an essay every week in a non-writing intensive class. Lectures are a joke and don't help, read the book and don't go to the lecture. The study guide doesn't work at all. Tests are harder than they should be. For all those interested in Psych, take this class and then come tell me if you still want to major in it. Grade killer and weed out.

This class isn't hard but takes up a lot of time. Get all of the extra credit that you can. Do the practice exams over and over again and learn from wrong answers. The exams are almost identical to the practice exams. Literally do them until you get near perfect scores. Don't lose any of the easy points. Class takes up a lot of time though.

Completely ruined any interest I had in Psychology, the test were very difficult and she expects you to do hours of prepping for the test. Even the study guide takes a couple days to get done. Be ready to work if you're planning on taking this course.

I sleptskipped every single lecture day. All you need to do is fill out the study guides provided and you are golden. Towards the end of the semester I was able to fill them out more during the actual lecture which was nice. Don't wait to do the quizzes and writing assignments, the writing assignments require some time!

Tested on so much content it's a wonder this class isn't split into 4 semesters. There are multiple lecturers. Kate has great charisma. Some of the others, not so much. Overall a decent course with a heavy workload.

Kate is a coordinator for this class more than an instructor- every week we had a different professor teach that weeks topic. The class is a lot of work, but if you make the effort, it will show in your grade. Do not get behind in the weekly writing assignments or quizzes. Take the practice exams a lot- they really help. Try and keep up in the text

Kate is the director of the class. You're very lucky if you get a response to an email from her. A lot of work, and to be honest I didn't learn much. Each chapter is crammed with info you don't need to know for the exam-I lived off the study guides. Good tip-google the study guides for ones that are already filled out. Try hard and you'll do well!

DO NOT fall behind on quizzes, essays, homework, & readings. Attend all discussion sections & lectures (onlinein-person). Tests are TOUGH, but she can help you get through it if you ask. Bad grade on test? Review your test w her & she can help fix your grade too, but YOU have to take the initiative to meet with her. Complete all EC & REP pts!

Kate is the coordinator for psych 1001, not an actual professor. Put in the work, do the extra credit opportunities, and you will end up with a good grade in the course. She is very helpful and prompt at responding to emails. The grading and the syllabus is very cut, so you know exactly where you are throughout the semester.

This class is fine if you're okay with lots and lots of assignments. Chapter quizzes, online essays, discussion homework, plus lectures and tests. But if you're fine with doing all that work, you'll get decent grades on the test because they force you to work with the material. Kate seems passionate about her job but it's a big class
