Comment:
Arbuthnott was able to take an interesting and complex subject and make it as drab as a slice of wonderbread. Extremely unhelpful prof, unclear rubrics, refused to give correct materials to study with and expected weekly quizzes to be top priority to students. Save yourself the $600 and watch CrashCourse's psychology videos instead. Dreadful class.

Her lectures are godawful. She explained absolutely nothing during her lectures and then expected you to know enough to answer her ridiculous questions on her weekly quizzes THEN denies PAYING ADULTS the right to the quiz answers because if she were to give us the answers we "wouldn't study correctly" Who is she to decide our study methods? AWFUL

She is the worst prof ever. She's rude and ignorant to students. Weekly quizzes were very difficult and required hours of studying. On top of that she refused to supply answers to quizzes in order to help students study. Her lecture notes are horribly confusing and she doesn't explain well. Extremely tough grader- rubric is unclear. Dreadful woman

Through the semester we had quizzes weekly, and while those quizzes were handed back at the end of the semester to use for studying, we were never supplied with the correct answers. So, the quizzes were basically useless for studying, and when asked multiple times for the answers we were denied. Do yourself a favour and avoid her at all costs!!!

Never ever take a class from this horrible woman. She belittles the class, responds very rudely to emails and class messages, and has the most backwards class policies I have ever experienced. Weekly quizzes that she just assumes everyone has hours to study for and refused to give answers to those quizzes to help study for final exam. Awful woman.

AWFUlL! Worst prof ever. Not a nice lady in or outside of class. Says "um" every 3 words. So dreadful to listen to. Weekly quizzes that are impossible to pass. Made me hate psychology. I am not sure what is more distracting, people talking in her lectures because they are trying to stay awake, or people leaving because it is so boring. DO NOT TAKE!

You dont really need to go to class in order to pass but she does add small examples that are not always in the text or slides. Utilizes UR Courses which was nice, always answers emails fast. You actually have to read the textbook in order to understand the material to pass the quizzes though. Shes a very nice lady, average grader.

All I can say is Bruh. Worst prof ever do not recommend, if a class you need has her teaching, take someone else. If those other classes are full, take it the next semester. This is not worth your money, a gender study degree makes more sense than taking her as a prof.

Very nice and knowledgeable lady. The quizzes are extremely hard and made me dread psychology. I learned more by reading the textbook and searching concepts online than from the lectures.

Nice woman. Her bi-weekly quizzes were marked EXTREMELY hard, especially the how does (insert psychology term here) relate to the dicsipline of psychology? questions.

Katherine is very passionate about her subject, and it shows. She does her best to make sure everyone understands, and encourages classroom discussion. She doesn't just read the slides, so pay attention. No midterm, just chapter quizzes every couple of weeks. I hope I get to take one of her classes again.

Her lectures are soul sucking, I could barely keep eyes open sometimes. I found myself tuning in on some interesting topics and discussions from Katherine and the other students. She is very intimidating. Her marking isn't as bad as people say it is, I got 80s on both my papers. Although, her lecturing and tests could be revamamping. READ THE BOOK!

i dont recommend taking psych 102 with Katherine. 2 papers that were not clear about criteria, 6 quizzes that make up for the midterm, and a final. Going to class was pointless - read from the powerpoints and then posted them on UR courses. Probably a great prof for other psych classes but didnt seem to enthused to teach intro psychology!

Must attend lectures in order to do well on quizzes. She explains topics well in class but not on the slides so you have to take detailed notes. Textbook was a huge asset in helping me get a decent grade. She is intimidating, but if you discuss things with her she is more than willing to give an answer or feedback.

She has 0 control over her class. People have full on discussions not related to class ALL THE TIME while she lectures. Once some girl literally put her hand up and asked the people to stop talking because the Prof wouldn't do anything.

She seems like a nice enough person outside of the classroom but her lectures are soul sucking. READ THE TEXT CHAPTERS, I cannot stress that enough. Read and memorize textbook contents because you'll need it for the quizzes. Term paper is marked hard and I advise no one do the engaged learning option, do the news articles.

No midterms, but you do bi-weekly quizzes on the past two chapters you learned. The final is based on everything that you learned.

Nice lady personally, but didn't like her as a prof. Lectures are alright, her power point slides are minimal and hardly have actual notes on them. Gives biweekly quizzes that are very tough, the marking is really hard... The term paper is marked very very difficult so watch out for that one. Quizz marks are basically your class mark.
