Katherine is very knowledgable and give fantastic lectures. Her class on neoliberalism was one of my first at UFV and it was amazing to take and cover such a niche subject area.

This is my first review, mainly because I really needed to let people know Katherine is awesome! She learns everyone's names and she is very approachable and wants you to succeed. She turned relatively dry material into a really engaging class and you can tell she is passionate (not to mention hilarious). Would take another course with her!

Comment:

Hands-down the best prof that I've had at UFV! I had Katherine for 3 courses. I was able to really grasp and gain an interest in soc theory. Super funny, interesting, and passionate about teaching. Her grading made sense and had effective feedback on what was good and what needed improvement. 10/10 would recommend.

She learns everyone's names. Must attend classes for participation and because she does not post anything online from the lectures. Nor does she use PowerPoint. She requires three textbooks for this class and you must read each assigned reading because she picks on students to answer questions during class. There is also 2 readings per week.

Really cares about all her students, enough to learn everyones names, super funny and engaging during lectures, uses current events to relate to her lectures, 2 assignments that are pretty easy, very easy going and understanding to situations. Definitely would take her again.

Katherine is amazing!!! If you get the chance to have her for 101 TAKE IT! Her lectures are amazing, I honestly didn't read the text until the final to get more in-depth info on a few specific concepts. You need to show up - her exams sometimes ask for examples which she gives in-class. The 2 assignments are a breeze, she is a fair grader.

Katherine is an amazing prof. I've never had a morning class that I have been excited for. There were two assignments and two tests. They were both relatively easy. You don't need to read the textbook. However, if you want to excel in the class (A) then definitely read the textbook, it'll give you an edge. Lovely prof, lovely class.

Katherine is one of my favourite profs by far! She is funny and engaging. I leave class feeling like I know and understand concepts we discussed! Attendance is not mandatory as she posts notes online but you won't want to miss her lectures! Discussions that happen in class are directed/helpful to gaining a deeper understanding of course work.

By far the best sociology prof at UFV! She is hilarious and more than willing to help anyone who needs it. Really entertaining and engaging classes, fair on her marking and makes it clear what she expects on exams. My only complaint is that I wish she taught more classes. Would definitely take again!!!

Katherine is REALLY nice. I struggled a bit on her assignments but I came in to get help and she took the time to read what I wrote and look at the articles I found for one of her assignments! Exams are a breeze if you read the chapter and take class notes!! Would take her again if could!!

Best sociology professor at UFV and she teaches all the foundation courses. Makes boring classes interesting and fun. I thoroughly enjoy going to class. She expects a lot of effort and there is a lot of work. But she is absolutely amazing!

Extremely good teacher. One of the best I've ever had. Has the same personality of Ellen (the tv show host). Very helpful. Uses humour to gain repertoire with students. Anytime you get a chance to take her class, do it!
