She tries to explain concepts in a straightforward way that is easy to grasp but between miscalculations, misformatting equations, and over-elaborating on small topics it is easy to quickly get lost in her explanations. This site is a godsend post-midterm: google search "discretetextoscarlevin" and then choose "browse interactive online version"

Really tries to get students to participate. Sometimes when students dont get something she thinks everyone should, she leaves the room for a few minutes to let the class discuss it. Great idea!

When I was a student, I couldn’t imagine that there was any need to understand the theoretical details she insisted on. But now that I am doing research, I see that she was right. I suspect that most students find her insistence on understanding every detail just annoying, but then later recognize she was the one of the best teachers.

she starts really slow every course, giving you the feeling it is going to be fun and easy. the midterm comes like a bomb and from then on it's mostly catch up. everything you do is not enough and even if in exams you write her proofs from class she still finds ways to dismiss them. very hard prof to get along with and satisfy.

Her lecture was not organized, and weekly assignments took more than 10hours.They were really hard. BUT if you show her how much you work hard, she is wiiling to help you. If you do, she is totally different. Show your hardworking and go to see her in person.
