GOODS: Drury is a very engaging speaker, conversant on current events, fashionable dresser, and invites varying opinions into class discussion. Reasonably flexible and cares about us as people. BADS: Papers with arguments she disagrees with can still get As, but they will be graded harder. Intense workload, homework due every other class at least.

Professor Drury is wonderful! She genuinely cares about her students and is very encouraging during one-on-one meetings. Class discussions are engaging and a lot of fun. Bonus: she allows one paper extension with no penalty and encourages students to rewrite any and all papers to improve their grades, which is helpful as the course is WI.

Awful experience with this professor. If she disagrees with your point of view, your grade is going to suffer. My advice is to pick the most elementary arguments that have been rehashed over and over, because those are the only ones that she's open to.

Helpful writing teacher but found her to be mean-spirited and close-minded. If you don't agree with her analysis of a class reading or your own writing, you will be persecuted. I found her willing to help insincere.

Delightful woman. Cares about her students, is unabashedly honest, will push for the very best from everyone she teaches. She may say outight "this wasn't very good" but if you agree & you let her, she'll help make it way better; she'll also say what you're doing well & be really proud of you. If you're sensitive, take Brockmann, who's also great.

Great class, though a lot of work. Made me a much better writer, and made me more aware of the writing/arguments of others. Class always produced interesting topics of conversation!

This woman is amazing. She cares about the students, classroom discussion is engaging, and she is very clear in her instruction. Can be a tough grader, but she makes it worthwhile. I didn't want to take the class, but it ended up being my favorite. Fight to get in her class.

I've graduated from Wash U and to this day, professor Drury is still one of my most memorable professors. She was the first person to truly teach me how to write, how to think, how to express my voice. It's because of her influence that I now teach English myself...and I hated English before

Best professor I've had at Wash U. She's not easy, but her Argumentation course is one of the few from which I've really learned something here that will be useful years from now.
