Comment:
I like Kathleen; she's very caring, passionate, and smart. Her class was based on three assignments, with one mandatory paper, but it was never difficult. However, class could be boring and she was often disorganized (it was her first time teaching RTA905). She's super nice and overall a decent professor with lots of knowledge. PS: NO TEXTBOOK

The lectures are very discussion-based, which is not my favourite kind of lecture, however this is an amazing prof! She is extremely helpful and interesting, what she taught helped me in other classes. The assignments are fun to do and quite easy. She really cares about her students, I would definitely take a class with her again.

Kathleen is absolutely amazing. I could listen to her lectures every day. She genuinely cares about students' interests and engagement. Assignments are cumulative and relate to one another in a way that makes sense, is relevant to course material, but also allows you to explore your own ideas. Best learning experience if you put in the effort.

This professor was wonderful. I took the class for credit but ended up loving it. Only problem is that she is often unclear on assignments. The exam was completely unexpected. A big part of it was knowing the art and the artists/creator. Assigns groups, didn't like mine at all. She allows redos and is always willing to help students.

Wonderful woman, I wish I could go to her house for tea and snacks. By far the nicest prof I've ever had, but being nice doesn't always make a good prof. She's often quite unclear and lectures are confusing, assignments aren't always explained well. However, she's incredible helpful and accommodating IF you seek help.

I took this course last semester and learned stuff that helped in other classes. She lets you rewrite assignments and helps you during office hours. Her lectures could be shorter but she is into it.

Challenging course but it is clear she loves helping you learn. Assigned groups at start of year and ended up with a lazy bunch. Ask to change groups.

Had a hard time paying attention in lectures. Found myself way more interested in the topics when I had to essentially learn them again for the exam, due to the fact that her disorganized and pretentious discussions were hard to grasp. Assignments were unclear, and syllabus disorganized. You can tell she is passionate though.

Curation and Exhibition is a great professional elective. Through this course you will learn a lot about not only the history of exhibition practices but also about how exhibitions function today. Kathleen is a great professor, she really cares about students and that they can take what they learn in this course and apply it to their own practice.

Originally was intimidated by her, but upon one-on-one interaction my opinion changed. She was blunt with regards to my experimental film thesis project & it helped a lot. A wonderful person and beautiful mind. Goes above and beyond expectations.

Kathleen has been the best prof/student experience I have gained at Ryerson. She has been extremely helpful and supportive, and although her classes are advanced and very academic, she has your best interest at heart. If you don't have her as a prof, get to know her, she'll be very beneficial for your future.

In IMA, there are many uncommitted professors, ones who leave you learning on your own. Kathleen is definitely not one of them. She is the reason why I am still in new media, as she genuinely cares about her students and support in every way. Full of knowledge, teaches very fascinating topics and always something to learn. It's worth it.

Comment:
Kathleen is probably a very smart woman who knows a lot about film history but she is not a very good professor. She doesn't make her points clear and often confuses me when trying to explain something. She seems to talk around the subject, not directly about it. She is very sweet though and encouraged our class to do well on assignments.
