Kathy is a good teacher, she really tries to help u when u ask. She's very understanding and approachable. Math 3C had a ridiculous amount of work. 10A wasnt as bad. I still, however, cannot stand math for the life of me...its torture. I cant believe i have 2 more quarters left to take. But shes def good to take for the 1st 2 quarters of math.

I felt like a veal calf in this class. force fed and immobile. btwn the flood of HW, supplements, ALEKS, i had no time to breathe. lectures are fast paced and skip over core concepts. as a refresher course, superb. As an intro, terrifying. she didn't even mention trig till end of 9th week and it was a full quarter of the final. devastating.

A really good teacher even though I hate math. She's very nice, and her lectures are really clear and helpful. She gives good notes. ALEKS Lab was also good. Tests were on the harder side though.

Comment:

Kathy's lectures were helpful and she did make a point at helping students outside of class. However, the workload was ridiculous - if you take her, expect a LOT of homework and a blow to your social life. Midterms and final were alright, though a few of the questions were a bit nitpicky. ALEKS lab requires a LOT of time. Not an easy class.

She does give out a lot of homework. Most of my time during the quarter was spent on completing assignments for this class. Not hard, just too many problems. Midterms were fair. She devoted one whole section on an unimportant lecture she gave regarding cylinders...which means, go to lectures. Overall: it was a good intense review.

Teacher was very determined to teach the concepts correctly. LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of HOMEWORK! but it helps to make you understand the material being taught. Ended up with a B- in the class. Tests are fair but challenging of the material. Goodluck!

I have had Kathy for 2 quarters and I love her. she is so amazing at teaching the material and really tries. then again, the material is not very challenging, and most of the time you can just zone out while people ask stupid questions. Kathy tries to answer questions no matter how obvious the answers may be. definately a recommended professor.

Although she will answer your questions if you ask her, she has trouble explaining concepts. She rushes through the material asap because she gets behind and needs to keep up with her syllabus. Out of 2 50pt midterms, the average was a 25 and a 28. Her tests do not reflect homework at all!!!

Expects way to much work. Aleks is over the top. Aleks should be optional not mandatory. Homework + Supplements are enough to kill your social life and impede on your other classes study time. Professor K. is awesome though. She does care about all of her students which is the exception at UCSD

One of the hardest classes I have had at UCSD, this lady is crazy an her tests are not even related to the material she covers in class. The first time i took this class I got a D, and now I have to take it for the 2nd time. Avoid her if possible.
