Dr. Stanton has published a book on Shakespeare, is on the board of citations for MLA, etc. Lectures are intense and long but exciting and sometimes the readings are filled with sexual puns. I loved her class. I have recommended other students take Stanton. She gets students involved in seminars, prepares you for grad school. She is an inspiration

Prof Stanton is an interesting person. She knows HER Shakespeare. Doesn't let you talk much, it's all about her interpretation of the plays. She talks the ENTIRE time. When it comes down to it though, it would be hard to fail her class; there are 3 papers. No tests or anything else. I would take her for Shakespeare because she is so knowledgable.

She knows her stuff, but tends to put a liberal or anti-conservativepolitical angle on things that are not pertinent to the period. Very nice, poorlittle feedback on papers lots of check marks, and takes forever to give papers back. Don't expect her to answer emails fast, and after you are not in the class, don't expect a response to your email

Two short papers and a take-home final essay. Lectures are long but packed with information and potential paper topics. She is strict with grammar but extremely helpful in her office hours. This is my second class with her and she has been consistent and inormative.

Took her for Shakespeare. I'm surprised by all of the positive feedback she's received here, mainly because her lectures are entirely pointless. She just talks at you for hours on end, and it's really obvious that she's full of herself. She's also outspokenly liberal which gets very annoying after a while if you don't agree with her. Bad professor.

Took her for Milton. She is seriously THE BEST! Such an interesting class, I loved Paradise Lost! She's so passionate. 2 papers and a final paper (take home). The first 2 papers you have a week grace period. She grades mainly grammar. I wish I could take her for every class!

Third class with her and I have loved every single one. You will learn things from her classes that you will never learn anywhere else. So amazing! Two papers and a final, which is a paper you can either complete at home or write in class. Grace period for first two papers. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

I have taken her for Shakespeare and Elizabethan Drama. 2 essays and 1 take home final, which can be on anything-no prompt. She takes attendance twice so you have to stay the whole 3 hrs. Lectures can be dry, but if you show up it's hard to get less than an A. One of the few English professors to offer late afternoon/early evening classes at CSUF!

I've taken all of Dr. Stanton's classes except Milton and she has been such a great mentor. The majority of the material for this class was quite interesting. All of her classes have a take-home midterm (essay), a short paper, and a final. Please take her, I guarantee that you won't regret it :)

Most boring Shakespeare class of all time. The assignments were super easy but class was awful to sit through. All she does is lecture the whole time, and she really knows a lot about Shakespeare, but sometimes if she disagrees with what a student says she shoots it down, and that's not what professors should do. To sum it up, easy, but BORING

Dr. Stanton has written several books, so she knows her stuff. She goes over everything, and puts it in plain english. For papers, she is more interested is seeing you learn and understand, she doesn't nit pick, easy B class. She does go off track sometimes, but she tries to make you laugh or learn some dirt/interesting facts on the authors

This was one of the easiest classes I've taken at CSUF. The hardest part is sitting through the entire lecture without dozing off. Dr. Stanton is very passionate about Shakespeare but she sometimes goes off on one thing for too long. The essays were easy. I got an A in this class even though I missed about 4 classes.

I took Stanton for Elizabethan and Jacobean Drama. Easily the most boring class I've ever had. It was three hours a week of her just talking at us. She was knowledgeable, but just weird. I was really shocked when I got my papers back, because she doesn't grade on content or analysis, so I got A's on all my papers. Really flexible on due dates. Meh.

I absolutely love Dr. Stanton! She is an extremely fair grader and has such enthusiasm for her subject! You learn so much about not only the readings, but the author, life in England during that era, and fascinating facts. Two short papers, and a final (take home optional). Reasonable reading load. Highly recommend her!

LOVED Stanton. She is probably one of the best professors I have ever had in my career as an English major. She is a fair grader. Her enthusiasm for Shakespeare makes her lectures not only informative, but enjoyable. I'm definitely going to one of her classes again.

I found Stanton's lectures extremely informative and thought provoking. She is a fair grader, and her revisions tend to focus on sentence mechanics and grammar (which I think is helpful, assuming you are an English major attempting to write in the academic style). I loved her course.

Enjoyed all the information she imparted to us on Paradise Lost. I took meticulous notes that will last me a lifetime! I only wish that we had actually gotten through Paradise Lost--we only finished six or seven books of it.
