Comment:

Professor Wickham-Crowley is great! She's really nice and definitely cares about her students. She makes an effort to get to know you, and is able to help out if need be. I wish we could get papers and e-mail responses back a little sooner... but overall, definitely take her course! She's very knowledgeable and has been on TV multiple times!

She teaches Lit His I frequently and while she can be really funny in class, the course as a whole was really disorganized. She took forever to grade assignments--by the time the final rolled around, we only knew about 25-30% of our final grade. The midterm is basically just memorization, but the papers were graded harshlygood luck

Prof wickham-Crowley is awesome. Lots of reading but that's a given (it's an English class). Makes some pretty dry pre 18th c lit bearable.

I had Prof Wickam-Crowley for Lit History I. I thought she did a good job considering the restraints she had--having to cover such a long expanse of literary history requires a lot of reading. Midterm was tough but not unreasonable. She is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would definitely take a class with her again.

Lectures can be dry, but insightful. Lots of reading. Only essays, but she lets you rewrite all of them. However, she initially grades essays more harshly with the expectation that you will rewrite them. Willing to help you in office hours.

Comment:

The most difficult professor I have ever had, with the highest expectations. Taught me more than I ever expected. Brilliant. Took her for Tolkien, Med. Celt. Culture, Sci-Fi, and even though she made me work like a dog, I loved every minute of it. Will take as many rewrites as you are willing to do, will challenge you constantly. SO worth it.

In terms of being an interesting freshman Ignatius seminar, this class was great. Prof WC is a really nice woman who obviously loves what she does. The medieval conference trip to Bethlehem was an absolutely amazing experience, too. That said, she is kind of a tough grader. She usually lets you rewrite things, but just be warned.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! The reading, and I mean ALL the reading is extremely boring. Usually 1.5 - 2 hours of reading per class. She is a tough grader on papers, even though she lets you revise all of them. If you're trying to take a Gateway class, don't take this one. Unless you are already really interested in Medieval Literature.

I really enjoyed this class! It was my first english class at Georgetown and she made it great. She is a wonderful lady, very willing to help, a great adviser. The subject was interesting. She lets you revise all of your papers, so you can always improve them (and she really wants to see you improving!). I enjoyed it...

she picks favorites. if you're not one of them, you're screwed. grades really hard, and although you can rewrite papers, you find yourself deep in hundreds of pages worth of back-reading that there's really no time to 'reVISION' your papers

I LOVE professor Wickham-Crowley. She is absolutely hilarious and makes the already awesome readings come out in an even funnier way. There can be a lot of reading and the paper-writing is a little tough, but the fun of the class makes up for it.
