Great prof. Had him back in 1998 and is great to see that he is still at U of W. He made you think and be creative. Not your typical prof who used the same notes for the past 20 years. If you want structure and want to read chapter by chapter in the book go elsewhere and be bored. After 18 years he still positively impacted my life to write here.

Second course with Ken coming from Ed psyc. This course was equally enjoyable, learned and thought about a lot of thing. Ken allows you do whatever you want, explore your area of interest in relation to the subject. If you need structure and exact plotting of your marks, not your Instructor. Will be taking adult psyc with him in the winter.

Very interesting professor. He has his own, unique method of education, which you will see when you take one of his courses. He's not for everybody, though. You'll hate him or you'll love him. if you like structure, don't take this class. Gives you lots of freedom (ex no due dates), makes you realy think. It'll be like no class you've had before.

Ken's a very unorthodox prof. At first I wasnt sure whether I'd like him or not (had him for EdPsych & Adol-Psych), but after reading Weapons of Mass Instruction (book for EdPsych) I "get" him & why he is the way he is. TAKE HIS COURSE. At best youll gain a new view of the education system, at worst you wont learn anything (but thats ur own fault)

Worst prof ever. The reason I rate his quality of teaching as being hard is because he is so unclear in his lectures and gets side tracked every 30 seconds. You will not learn anything in his class. I sat in front of this man every class and had gained no knowledge. Does not post anything, does not write notes in class. You're on your own.

At first I was going to drop this course, but eventually I realized Ken actually made me THINK, unlike most profs. Ken is a really interesting prof, and you just need to accept him as he is, a little unorthodox, controversial and a devils advocate. Educ Psyc has been the best course I've taken and has completely changed my thinking about education

Like him as a person, not at all as a prof. You either love or hate him! I learned almost nothing in his class. Lectures are more discussion-style, and a lot of rabbit-trails, sometimes overly-controversial. Don't even bother with the textbooks you won't use them or need them.

Excellent Prof, great person, very approachable, requires you to think and reason your opinions instead of following the crowd. Will be a shock to first year students who like to be lazy and like being told exactly what to do. Any course taken with Johns will be useful to you in all aspects of your life.

Most dreadful prof i have ever had. Complete waste of money. Showed up to class MAYBE 2 out of the 3 days a week. Made up his own theories. Tests were a complete joke and had nothing to do with what he was "teaching" us. Would not recommend this prof!!

Best prof ever! I have taken five classes with him and they were all amazing! His assignments allow you to explore your own ideas and to be creative which is extremely important in any learning process. He does not give a lot of guidelines which can be a little intimidating, but he is extremely accommodating and his classes are very interesting!

I didn't spend so much time studying for his class as i have spent for others, but i really feel like i learned something...a lot.I extended my boundaries and discovered so many new, amazing things. The best part is that what i learned can actually be applied in the real life.He makes learning painless, and he has a well developed sense of humor.
