Comment:
Professor Simmonds was so good at answering questions about the topics we covered in class. While other professors sometimes have difficulty understanding questions from a student's point of view, Professor Simmonds was always able to re-explain his lessons in a way that clarified any confusion we had. He was also witty and easy going!

Really chill professor, he's always ready to help students and directly teach what you need to know. Class is pretty easy just make sure you learn what he lectures on because the tests are identical. Oh, and DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! He told us its mandatory but we never used it and it was a waste of $150

Kendalls honestly a really great person but an eh professor. His lectures are unclear but honestly the material is very straight forward and easy. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests and the study guides are very similar to them. One group project with teams of 5-6 that can honestly be done in groups of 2, very easy.

Professor Simmonds has been one of my fav professors at USC. He is always willing to answer student's questions and he really cares about his students. His tests are similar to what we cover in class and to the practice exams he gives us, so no surprises! However, that doesn't mean that the tests are easy, so you still have to study a lot.

3 midterms (10% each), 1 final (40%), and 1 group case + peer evals (30%). Class is tough as expected from a 400-level ACCT class, but this is made worse by the fact that Simmonds doesn't really teach and flies through material. You end up self-studying the entire course. He's a nice guy, but the class is poorly organized. Read the book & practice.

Prof Simmonds is a good man but not a great lecturer. I never understood what was happening in class, ended up teaching myself everything at home using the textbook, and there is some very challenging concepts. Blackboard files were organized very poorly. Don't put off studying for the final, it's cumulative and worth 40% of your grade.

This is the hardest accounting class that I have taken in Leventhal. Professor Simmonds is very knowledgeable, but he is not great at keeping students engaged. The class organization is frustrating, as 30% of the grade is 3 midterms and the final is 40% and somewhat cumulative. He is a nice guy, but this class needs some adjustments.

The hardest accounting class and probably the hardest class in Marshall. That being said, Professor Simmonds is a great teacher for it. He knows his stuff and spends the majority of time in class going over problems which is what helps understand. Definitely go to his office hours and the TA office hours as they'll guide you toward success

Prof. Simmonds is a great prof, the man knows his accounting. The class is most definitely not an easy A. But hey it's an upper division course you should expect some work. Preparing prior to class is crucial. You will be reading that overpriced textbook )! I managed to pull off an A- but I worked for it. Exams are similar to textbook assignments.

Kendall is a pretty chill professor. 2 quizzes (only one gets counted) 2 exams. theres "preparation" for class as in hw but he never collects or goes over it. does a lot of looking at actual firm annual reports which i thought wasn't useful but whatever. super straightforward exams if you follow his review guide.

I found Professor Simmonds' lectures to be helpful. But like many introductory accounting classes, you really have to put your back into understanding and learning the material. TA's office hours helps a lot. But his tests are extremely hard. But to save yourself a little bit of trouble, pay attention in class!

This can be a tough class if you are not paying full attention and catch up with his lectures. You learn everything by doing the problem in class so you will be wasting time if you don't know the material well. Exams are easier than lecture problems. Study groups help. Have a good life.

Professor Simmonds is one of the best professors currently teaching at Leventhal. People complain that he is too quick or is hard to understand. Well, I don't think that is true. As long as you pay attention in class, the material is pretty clear cut. And he is always willing to answer questions and to clarify difficult concepts.

Topics in this class are not too bad. But the professor does not teach at all. His lectures are very hard to follow, impossible if you have not read the textbook before hand. You're better off just reading the textbook chapters on your own. He doesn't take attendance or collect homework. Your grade is 2 midterms, a final, and a group project.

Definitely not an easy A. He does expect a lot of his students, and rightfully so. Really helps to read the textbook in advance. Gets a bad rap for being a poor professor, but if you put the time in and ask questions, he's more than happy to help explain difficult concepts. Two tough midterms, one group project, one final.

Be prepared to memorize all your notes and the textbook as he is very thorough. His multiple choice questions are harder than the actual problems. Definitely avoid if you can otherwise be prepared for an unnecessarily hard class.

Great guy. We were very behind due to a couple absences on his part in the beginning of the semester but he tried his best to catch us up. In comparison to Sweeney for 286a, his tests were simple. If you end up not understanding something, it's on you because he makes sure everyone understands a topic before moving on. Patient&helpful in office hrs
