Dr. Williams is ridiculously smart, but not a very good teacher. Those that understood him in class were naturally good at theory, but those of us who needed extra help were lost the whole time. He was really frustrating, and quite frankly, often rude. The only reason I did well was because I had 2 tutors helping me understand the material.

He WAS better this semester. BUT you will have to work extremely hard. He seemed like he enjoyed teaching this class and let everyone know. But there were some communication issues at times. Hopefully he will continue to improve b/c he wasn't always a good teacher in the past.

Dr. Williams is EVIL. For those of you who were "pleasently surprised," the only reason why he is better this semester is b/c he got in trouble with the Dean for failing too many students. If it were up to him you'd have to get a 94 to get an A and an 83 is a C not a B!! Horrible!

I had worries about his class before I took it. I was pleasantly suprised. He is a genius of a man and will do anything to help you pass. Pay attention in class and read his book, and he is suprisingly funny.

Love the comment re students waiting for 'sweet grasp of death.' I took this as a non-music major because I love music and thought I'd learn some new stuff.All I learned was that he expected us to tell the difference between types of saxaphone!

Dr. Williams must have accessed this site and gave himself that smiley face rating! HE ISN'T CLEAR. He makes music theory ridiculously ambiguous and NEVER gives organized lectures. Scrambles his way through the book and can't play piano well. AVOID!!!!!
