Makes the lectures somewhat interesting. You have to write 10 little papers throughout the semester on movies you watch in class. If you come to the lectures, you'll do fine in the class.

Not terrible, but he's a little sassy. He sometimes expects students to know everything because he already does. You watch a movie almost every week and write a one page paper each time, but they're fairly easy and out of five points. There are three exams and the final isn't cumulative. As long as you go to class and take notes, you'll be fine.

Go to class EVERY single day for the notes because the notes in his class are what will give you the answers to the exams and reaction papers. 10 movies and a paper after each one due the next day. Only 100pts but a lot of work. Big analysis paper but only 15 pts. Drops lowest reaction paper at the end if you do all but it doesn't help your grade,

Good teacher. Extremely hyper and loud. There are a lot of small reaction papers after each movie that you have to do and one big research paper at the end. Make sure you go to class that is where all his notes are he does not post notes. Do not miss class. Go to class, take notes and do your work, you will get a good grade.

I attended every class and made quizlets for every exam and only managed to get a C. He's passionate about the material and uses the full 2 hours to cram as many notes in as possible. Considering that there's 10 papers it should be a writing intensive but it's not. THE CLASS IS ONLY OUT OF 100 POINTS!! Do not recommend.

Tough tough grader. Lectures can be alright one day but boring the next. A lot of papers, a lot of writing. Tests aren't easy if you don't study or listen to the lectures. If you want a 101 class that you can skip and pass, keep looking.

Every other day is a lecture, and the other is a movie. if you pay attention you will get a good grade on the responses and the exams. You really need to memorize dates and times and people a lot. He likes to run around the class room, but it helped keep me awake most of the time.

Honestly, not a terrible class. Corbett can just be a bit much, but if you go to class and take the notes and write the papers you will be fine. He was not my favorite, but it was an easy GPA booster if you do the work.

I'm logging on just to tell you - DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK FR THIS CLASS. That aside, it is a 100pt class, so 1pt 1%. that being said, every point matters. His exams are easy, but don't blow them off. Make sure you show up every day, or you will be behind.

he rounds a lot of grades at the end of the year. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!!!! he doesn't grade anything his TA does which is kinda annoying but I ended with an A so can't complain. lectures are too bad, but somedays its hard to want to go to class. good guy, really enjoys what he teaches. take notes and get an A

He's great! super enthusiastic about the subject. You have to go to class and pay attention to pass. the exams are literally taken from the notes so you need to study and take notes. 10 400word responses to each movie you watch and one large research paper that he never really talks about so don't wait for him to introduce the paper before starting

He's really passionate about what he does, and that makes the lectures really entertaining. There are short papers after every movie (10 total) and you really need to commit to doing them right after you watch the movie. The exams are pretty easy, and there's only one big research paper due near the end of the semester.

I honestly hate Corbett's class. The lectures are extremely boring and long. His exams are hard and are based off the notes. However there isn't a lot of homework or extra work involved. EXTREMELY boring and he is very loud and annoying to listen to. I wouldn't recommend this class!

Corbett loves what he does and is very enthusiastic about the material. He presents the material very well and a majority of the test is from the lecture. As a result, class attendance is vital. The essays on the movies are really simple and graded easily. Only 3 exams and a final paper, while those are all easy, they are VERY important.

very specific. VERY TOUGH GRADER. Kind of comes off as a jerk. 10/10 would recommend. Lectures are relatively long. Papers and tests aren't worth many points so precise and don't mess up. Only take if you're serious about film. DON'T BUY TEXTBOOK!

He is very passionate about his job, but I find his arrogant comments to take away from how amazing everyone thinks he is. He freaks out about people having their phones out in class like I've never seen before. His lectures are horribly long and if you don't care for film, you will have a very hard time paying attention.

He is very very passionate about this job. Very odd man, very loud, sometimes disrespectful but very passionate. If you can't hold in your laughter, don't have him as a professor. You'll be laughing at him every 30 seconds.

I loved him and this class. He keeps the class very interesting. You must go to class to get notes that WILL be covered on the exams. the exams are very easy if you go over the notes and they are only 25 multiple choice questions. If you can't commit to writing a reaction paper 24 hours within the time of your film screening don't take the class.

Kevin Corbett was by far the best professor I've had yet at CMU. At first he comes off as kind of a jerk and super sarcastic, but it takes a little getting used to him. You have super easy 5 point papers and the exams are EXACTLY from his notes. If you go to class or at least make sure you get the notes, you'll get an easy A. Take this class!
