Comment:

Furman needs to hire more profs like Treu. He is one of the most dedicated people I have seen in the department and Furman at large. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of any of his classes. He continually inspires students and is dedicated to making sure they succeed. Take every opportunity you can to take his classes.

I am writing this as a student who first took a class with Dr. Treu in 1996. It was my first college class as a student, and it was his first college class as an instructor. When I began the course, I couldn't even use a mouse! Dr. Treu was clear, thorough, and helpful. I loved him as a teacher. We have remained friends over the years. Awesome!

Dr. Treu is probably the most petty person I've ever met. I took a class with an English professor who reviewed my papers and said they were A+ material. Dr. Treu then proceeded to give me C's and D's because my paper was "awkward". He will take points off for stupid stuff, be warned. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!

Dr. Treu is one of the best professors at Furman and the best computer science professor ever. He makes the material so easy to understand unlike Tataro who is super confused and doesn't even know what she's teaching. I wish I could take Treu for all my computer science classes

Dr. Treu cares profoundly about both the students in his class and the class subject as well. although this is not his field of study, he puts a great amount of time into the course. outside meetings to discuss the essays are super helpful and Dr. Treu really puts a lot of time into these discussions. I would recommend this corse to anyone.

Treu is a great guy. I had no prior knowledge in programming nor computers. Made a B+ in his class. Study and make sure you understand the programming concepts and not just memorizing the codes. He's more concerned about you understanding the material than rote memorization

One of the top reasons I transferred. I didn't have too big of a base knowledge of computer science and he made me feel stupid for it. Got very frustrated during labs and would eventually give up on you if you didn't understand. Horrible at explaining exactly what he wanted and required a lot of work for an Intro class. Avoid if you can.

SUCH a great professor! I had him for a FYW and he is incredible! So helpful and understanding; very personable and takes interest in his students. Such a great class as an introduction to Furman academics. I highly recommend!

Love this guy. He always seems to be on the same level as his students. He's friendly and easy to work with. He makes it clear what he expects, and he turned a potentially super-boring class into one that isn't so bad. He's very interested in the success of his students. Highly recommended!

One of Furman's best. He's so friendly and approachable. He truly tries to make class interesting and keeps everyone entertained. Great use of technology. You can just tell that he loves what he does and wants you to do well. He gives weekly quizes so tests are easy to study for. Can be tricky but I wouldn't say hard. He gives extra credit too.

Really good professor, clear about expectations, funny, very helpful. Class subject really interesting and useful. Highly reccomended. Totally unrelated note: he's an awesome actor, too. I saw him in Othello over the summer, and he was great. See him in a play if you haven't already.

This guy is the man!! He knows what he is doing, and if you ask a question, you get an immediate answer. He taylors his presentations by class so that it is helpful for the overall learning style in the class. This guy was born to be a professor!
