Worst professor I've had at UMaine. Terrible grading system: if you don't get a 90+ on tests, the highest grade you can get on HW is a B. No +/-'s on your final grade; flat F's-A's only, reducing motivation to work if you have a 76/86. Work with friends on HW or you will fail. Tricky multiple choice exams can tank your grade if you aren't prepared.

Comment:

Knud was a pretty great professor. He is very clear about surveying concepts and about what he expects. If you do all the work, and actually take the class seriously, you won't have a problem, but if you screw around and skip class and don't do the homework, he won't help you. He is also very open to questions in class if you have any confusion.

This professor is the worst professor I have ever had at UMaine. For starters, he does not care about the student's progress or education. Secondly, his exam procedure is idiotic. He gives multiple choice exams for with questions with lots of calculations so there is no partial credit. He also does not hand out + or - on letter grades. Terrible.

Knud is a VERY good instructor in terms of learning. But he sets a clear standard and sticks exactly to it. Take this class if you want to learn something, but dont try to make excuses for missing class or homework. He "can't help ya"

Intimidating at first but a nice guy to talk to one on one. He is rarely in his offce because he is too busy being a lawyer as well as a professor. His exams were nearly impossible because he likes to trick us by putting stuff we never learned on exams. exams were all multiple choice

He will make or break your interest in civil engineering/surveying/construction management. Don't expect sympathy from him. I had to leave a class early because my girlfriend cut her hand open with a kitchen knife while washing the dishes (now my fiance). *blank stare* ..sorry, absent.. Yeah but not sorry because I learned a lot from him.

Comes across in the beginning as tough, but a you go along he is actually very nice. Test are tough and homework isn't much easier. Don't take a class with Knud if you don't want to learn the material. Stay organized and you won't have a problem

challenging class, got a 95 average in the lab and a 50 average in the class. the tests were misleading and way more complicated then they should be. There all on your homework but the homeworks not a cakewalk
