Maher rocks! Definitely not an easy course, but totally worth settling for a B to take it. Engaging discussions, thoughtful readings (stay on top of them!!!) and fantastic insight. If you think citizenship is dull, you'll change your mind. Plus, she's adorable, very kind and genuinely wants you to engage and learn. Very rare gem at SDSU!!!

Prof. Maher is great. Her class and her way of teaching motivated me to do the readings and actually research on my own current issues with border politcs. Take this class and prepare to argue your view because some classes get heated on both side of the topics. ASK TO SEE THE BORDER DVD, it wasmade by one of her past students, trust me she'l know.

Dr. Maher really knows her stuff. Her lectures are so thoroughly planned & researched that she is better than Brian Adams & she cares. She encourages the student to go that extra step in his/her efforts to prove their argument among public affairs and policy. A required course for anyone who need this to fulfill their major. If you take 406 or 560 she is a lot better learn from than Brian Adams. Her grading on papers are easy enough that she grades like SNOW WHITE. A better professor than Brian Adams (who has the style of Julie Sullivan) (Bar None). She cares about her students, and Brian Adams doesn't.

Not bias at all. Does a very good job of covering both sides of the issues. You will definitely learn. KEY TO SUCCESS: read all assigned readings. Not difficult at all. She looks and sounds like Ellen DeGeneres. Super nice and well spoken

I really liked this Border politics class, not only was the material interesting, we went on a border tour for extra credit. Shes a great teacher. Pop quizes weekly, three essay tests (semi-hard) and a 8-10 pg. paper
