Professor Cylke was fantastic. I took SOCL 102 for my minor. The class was lecture heavy and at times dull. Yet the information and data presented was truly eye opening and at times shocking. Cylke was so helpful outside of class. He really wants everyone to learn as well as receive an A in his class.

By taking this class I found it easier to participat in conversations of topics such as welfare reform because of how much I learned by taking this class. Cylke's lectures are rich and highly interesting. I would strongly suggest his class for Soc. majors. But there is a ton of reading and writing--far beyond a 100 level. He makes you outline each page for six 300 page books (great books tbh but still). Also a midterm and a final. BE CAREFUL.

Dr. Cylke is an excellent professor. I really did learn tons, and the coursework was manageable. If your like me and needed a GPA booster before graduation, but also wanted to learn something, this class is a must take. Four short book reviews and two take home tests, that was it. He even gave out extra credit once or twice- huge incentive.

Easy class and knowledgeable professor. I really learned so much in this class. Two book reviews, two exams (midterm and final that are BOTH take home), and two projects. Attend to class, incorporate information from lecture in order to guide you with the book reviews and exams. The projects took a little time but they are manageable

Professor Cylke is clearly passionate about the material, he'll show you graphs and charts about social and economic problems until you've seen them all, but the projects are straightforward and the tests are take-home with opportunity to revise for higher grades. 2 Projects and a midterm and final for this semester, really easy course load.

Professor Cylke is one of the nicest people I've ever met. This class, while sometimes dry, is one of the best classes I've ever taken. We did 2 projects throughout the semester and the midterm and final were take home exams. Definitely recommend this class to anyone remotely interested in sociology.

Professor Cylke is a really great professor. You can tell that he is extremely passionate about sociology. He gives a midterm and a final, both essay exams and two semester-long projects. It is a great class, especially if you want to come out of it learning more about the world. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Could not be happier with Cylke. He's a genuinely interesting person and cares a lot about the material he teaches. I wasn't happy with my first test grade and he let me rewrite one of the essays & gave me that improved grade for the entire test. He's a very nice man and is definitely willing to help you with whatever you need assistance with!

Dr. Cylke seems to change to a tough professor that is much different from before. his tests were ez because were take-home. but now students need to read a lot stuff and prepare all the long essay topic(7 for mid term) for a real test. it may need more then 6 hours extra class reading per week.

Cylke is amazing! He is very entertaining and gets his point across using movies and clips. Very eccentric and a little goofy! You don't really need to attend class to do well...i skipped almost every other class and still got an A. You just need to check the syllabus so you don't miss some assignments and tests. Exams are very easy!

Really good guy and not a hard grader. Very understanding on the work you turn in. Class mostly just him talking with his strong liberal views. Doesn't present the other side, sometimes very frustrating.

Cylke's a pretty cool guy. Class topics are interesting but broad, readings are essential. Going to office hours will help you get a better grade because he likes to see that you're engaged and interested. Requires quite a bit of work outside of the classroom for a 100 level but it's a pretty easy A.
