Comment:
If you are diligent and not needing very much help Lee is your type of Prof. You are expected to read material at a Graduate level. Micros and Macros are long, but that expected; for it is a junior level class. My best advice is to take Rationlism and Empricism before taking Kant.

Professor Lee is an expert in the field of Immanuel Kant's philosophy. He is not an expert in the field of holding a course in Kant's philosophy. His micro papers are expected to be 15 pages long. His macro papers are expected to be 40 pages long. He assigned 20 books to read. Quoting sources doesn't help; you and they are wrong. R

Comment:
This professor specializes in some of the hardest philosophers to comprehend. Because of this, when he attempts to discuss easier philosophers, such as Plato and Descartes, he has trouble articulating them in a way that is comprehensible by a beginner in the field of philosophy. His lectures are not clear, and his tests are ridiculous. Good luck.

Comment:
He is very intelligent, but he has serious problems conveying any information to students. Be ready for long papers (40-50 pages) and substantial readings for every class (100~ pages from Kant and secondary sources). He can't pace himself very well and expects you to know everything he didn't cover. He did the same lecture 2 days in a row. Bad.

Dr. Lee is a true joy to have as an instructor. He is passionate about the subject matter and has years of experience. He expects a lot from his students, but it is more than worth the effort. He offers some of the most intellectual stimulating courses at all of Kent State

Okay, so he is very passionate about his subject -- philosophy. But I think he has a hard time explaining it to other people. I did not understand his lecture in class, because it's a lot of sentences that were incomplete. He tended to stare out the window a lot also. BUT, he tried, and you could tell. Just read the book,LOTS OREADING,and yourgood.

Dr. Lee is a great guy: he's funny, brilliant, and a very nice person once you get to know him. If you take his classes, you will definitely learn a ton as long as you do the readings. If you tend to be a slacker, avoid his classes because they are a lot of work.

Learned more than any other class in college - with papers to match. Says a lot with few words. easy to take good notes from. somewhat difficult to approach, but worth it. If you are serious about your education don't miss Dr. Lee... If you are trying to skate through college with minimal effort don't bother.

"empiricists believe that thoughts are high grade sensations. rationalists believe sensations are low grade thoughts." I think he liked to say this a lot. He's like anything else--a well. Bring lots of buckets and energy and you'll be rewarded.

Know these three things and you will do well in his courses: Papers should be long (macro: 30-50; micros: 5-10); use copious quotes; and attend class regularly. He is infamous for assigning an absurd number of texts but you will learn a lot

No respect for students. No respect for the fact that some of us have lives/responsibilities outside of his class. Does not allow for independent thinking. wants that you merely regurgitate from texts, no comprehesion involved. Humiliates and belittles students. I think he COULD be an excellent teacher but it not ...

Perhaps avoid him for Intro classes. You will work hard, read a LOT of extra material, and write an insane amount. Dr. Lee will tear you down, chew you up and spit you out, and you will thank him for it. For those that came to college to actually LEARN something (not spoon fed), Dr. Lee is almost unequaled at Kent State.

This guy is a freakin' genius. Notice how every bad comment he's received is about him having an accent or not being a pushover? THE GUY SPEAKS LIKE 5 LANGUAGES!! Of course he has an accent. When you can publish in 5 languages, then criticise him.

It is impossible to pay attention to a man who looks out the window for 5 minutes and then screams, "NOW"!. He is unresponsive to ALL questions, I think because he can not understand them, and he marks you absent because he can't see you. His accent is also VERY hard to understnad.

the class wasnt difficult, but he went off on random tangets too much...he went into too much depth on some topics, and ended up talking about something completely different...he tends to yell and stop in mid sentence and pause for a few minutes

Comment:
This class is difficult but not because of Dr. Lee. He does a fine job with the class, he is a little unorthodox and perhaps a little unclear, but he makes up for it in his raw enthusiasm about Kant.
