I will admit, during the beginning half of the course, his lectures were extremely hard to follow. However, he has improved recently, his notes actually follows what he is saying. The only difficulty is understanding him through his thick Eastern European accent. He's from Lithuania, give him a break!

I have never seen a bigger contrast in quality of instructors within the same course. Where David Ley is articulate and entertaining Briedis comes off as uninformed and imprecise. I have not attended any of his lectures since February and will not attend any until year's end. This is a man who said China does not have any debt.

Awful, just awful. His lectures are very unstructured and he isn't at all explicit about his expectations. For those with an untrained ear, his accent is a definite impediment to learning. I can't believe that he's been at UBC for the entirety of his education and still can't speak properly.

What's up with this guy? His lectures are terrible, you cannot understand him. He uses one overhead with random words on it and hardly follows it at all. very poor structure in his lectures. the only thing that got me through this class was the fact that half of the lectures were by Ley.

This guy's brutal! His lectures are completely unstructured and bordering on incoherent, which makes most people completely unwilling to listen. Doesn't help that the course is so extremely broad that most topics aren't indepth enough to really fully understand. I don't recommend this guy though. Geo 350 better be good, cause I took 122 for it.

Really knows his stuff, is ouviously very passionate about it. Some people say he moves too fast with the overheads, but I have to disagree. Maybe its because many kids are in 1st year,you don't have to copy it all down people! Overall, really informative and interesting material. Take his class!

He was pretty bad at the beginning of the year, but he asked the TAs to poll students on what he could do better. Now his lectures make a lot more sense and he gives examples. Has interesting stuff to say, but always seems to run out of time. He's got an accent that I just can't place - scandinavian
