if you want to work 5 times harder than all the other classes, redo your papers multiple times, and get terrible grades then take lara's class. literally everything you will write in this class is wrong and then on top of that she makes you do a group essay which is a huge hassle that no other class has to do.

The worst professor ever! Stay away! You can only pass if your papers are in Lara's view point, otherwise you will get a C+. She is always using excuses as to why she can't grade everything and is always behind on the syllabus, but when you need help she won't even listen to your reasoning.

This class is ridiculous. It's a required course and everyone I know that hasn't had Lara has had no problems in E110. I feel like E110 is making me a WORSE writer because all my writing is tailored to exactly what Lara wants to hear and then I still don't do well! She's impossible, don't take this class.

Lara is one of the most infuriating teachers I have ever had. If you decide to argue a position that Lara doesn't believe herself your grade will drop for sure. She is overly opinionated and her comments are useless. Try to avoid her if possible.

Comment:

Lara is a great teacher. She really knows how to interact with students and offers great advice for improving one's writing. Her class is all about analyzing pop culture, which is much more exciting than writing about feminist issues (what my friends all had to write about). I would definitely take her again and encourage others to do so as well.

It's comments like the ones I see for Lara Zeises that make RateMyProfessors lose a lot of credibility. I made an account just to praise Professor Zeises. She is an amazing writer and her criticism is endlessly helpful for your papers. The subject matter (pop culture) is so interesting too. If you do the work (which isn't much), you will succeed.

Absolutely terrible. You were required to write one 2 page essay and three 6-8 page essays, including a "group essay". Group work is always difficult but it is nearly impossibly to write an essay as a group. All essays are required to relate to pop culture. In your essay if you did not take a stance that Zeises agrees with it will effect your grade

She is very frank in her critiques, which makes her come across as "mean" or "rude", but her critiques were what I found most valuable in this course. She takes a passive role in teaching, so you need to make an effort, but if you do the reading and get help with papers, you'll do well

Whatever you do, do not take this teacher. She is lazy, mean, doesnt care at all. every negative comment on this site is true about her. honestly the only good thing about her is that she cancels class once a week for some reason. i dont know how someone can enjoy and like this class, it made my mon, wed, and fri miserable. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER!

The only good thing about her was that she missed so many classes so I didn't have to go. She was really mean and if she hates it when you ask questions because she thinks you didn't pay attention. Easy work, never read the book and got away with it. Had like 2 papers a group paper and a research paper. Overall she is mean and doesn't care at all.

the class is really fun and this teacher gets really into what she's teaching. conferences were most helpful but also the pop culture stuff was cool and you get to pick your own paper topics. she offers extra credit too.

Initially she seems like a hard professor but this class is extremely fun and fast moving. The topics for EVERY class were interesting and there are 2 papers, 1 group paper and the Final Research Paper. Start your papers early and besides going to the writing center go to her office hours for help. She is helpful and very nice .

I was really worried about this class after reading what everyone else said but it really wasn't that bad. I got the same type of grades that I got in High school, the only time I scored below a 90 was on a group paper that I didn't really write the wat it was supposed to be written. Don't read too much into what's written here, it's not that bad.
