Herzberg is a real gem. He really cares for his students and will work with you in your busy schedule. He really wants you to learn Chinese. Despite what normal languages classes are like, Herzberg makes Chinese are more laid back class. His really lenient about homework and it helps if you have a busy schedule!!

I took Herberg's class as a duel enrolled student. It was honestly so worth the hour drive for his class. Homework and tests were at a manageable level too. I would recommend taking his class for he is a hilarious and awesome professor. He's very caring and wants only the best for his students. He will always stay my favorite professor.

Herzberg was a very caring professor who uses a lot of creativity. He's deeply passionate about what he does. While his teaching kind of fizzles out by the second year, I still think that he's one of Calvin's best. Just do the work (unlike me) and you'll learn a lot. He also ate fried chicken with Johnny Cash during his own wedding. Really.

Amazing person and an amazing professor. He sets clear expectations for the class from the very start. Speaks in English a decent amount, he makes beginning to learn Chinese a very smooth transition. I recommend taking his class.

This is the most goofy guy you will probably meet in your life. Great teacher of Chinese, extremely easy class, extreme amounts of care for both the students (his "children") and the application of Chinese, but take his class for the fact that this man is pretty much a walking sitcom. (But get ready for dad-jokes galore)

Professor Herzberg is most loving teacher you will come across. Though he may be cheesy at times, you'll find it hard not to love him back. As for the material Professor Herzberg thoroughly prepares you for the test (and tests come with no surprises... at all). Only difficulty would be learning a new language, which is the material itself.

This prof is honestly the best prof I've ever had! He's a genuinely great guy, really cares about his students, and does his best to help in any way he can. He's incredibly nice, sweet, funny, and his class is a huge joy to take even if you're not planning on majoring in Chinese. He makes learning languages a fun experience. I recommend him x10000!

This guy is great. He is a prof who genuininely cares about his students and how well they do, and he LOVES to share his knowledge of Chinese and Japanese culture. He is an insanely nice guy who is always willing to help and is incredibly understanding. Probably the best prof this school has. Take him!!!

Larry is very, very kind. I learned almost as much about Chinese culture as I did the language! I also had a lot more fun then I expected. It may seem easy, but make sure you spend time studying outside of class. It may seem obvious, but language is cumulative.

Awesome Prof, If you need a language for the requirement take Chin, or Jap. Very helpful and can get an A as long as you study what he gives you. Great class! And his jokes are golden!
