Comment:

Kickham is absolutely, hands-down, the worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't teach from the book, but all of the homework is from the book and he still expects you to read it. Exams were always over material that was never covered. He was very rude and made comments about how dumb everyone was. Nobody felt comfortable even answering questions.

I do not understand why people do not like Dr. Kickham. If you do the homework and pay attention in class then you should get a high mark in the class. Everything builds off act 213, so it is pretty easy if you got an A in that class.

Anyone who says he is incompetent or a bad professor just didn't put forth the effort or pay enough attention in class. If you have a general idea of concepts from 213 and study for tests, then 214 should be no problem. He may not always explain things clearly but he has no problem clarifying if you ask him after class or the following lecture.

Professor Kickham is an impossible professor. Avoid his class at all costs. Any success I have in this class was not a result of his teaching, but of my classmates help, my own extensive studying, and youtube. He is unorganized, insulting, and generally incompetent. He can't remember when he assigned homework, and changes due dates on a whim.

Professor Kickham was very unorganized and unclear. He taught accounting his own way without using the book which made the lessons very confusing. He seemed lost many times and would change due dates multiple times. He graded fairly easy, but it required teaching myself the topics and utilizing tutoring. I would highly recommend NOT taking him.

Kickham's lectures are very boring. They are difficult to follow because he does not use PowerPoint or anything, he just talks. It didn't really seem like he would teach some of the material. Instead he would just jump into the homework and show you answers, without explaining how to do them.

He's actually there for you if you ask him questions, and the lectures really aren't that bad. He's not always super clear, but I have been able to follow along just fine. He explains the homework with you, gives take home quizzes with time to ask questions and has pretty good review for tests. Not exciting, but totally manageable.

Kickham was a nice guy. But Sometimes I thinking during lectures he was just as confused as the entire class was. He isn't very clear & I had the hardest time understanding the material. In my opinion there is no good way to study for exams, the exams were hard & a majority of the time I guessed on answers. He gave credit for trying i think tho.

One of the worst professors i have had! His teaching style is useless, and all he does is go over homework. Just giving the answers to problems and not explaining them properly does not help at all. Plus his tests are impossible.

Comment:

Lawrence Kickham was a decent professor. He is helpful in explaining some of the more difficult concepts of this course, but his teaching style makes it somewhat of an uphill climb. My biggest issue with him was that he spoke rather disrespectfully to students in class. He is also somewhat forgiving on his tests.

He may be good at accounting but unless as a teacher. Not willing to work with you, will only answer questions after class if you need the help. If your time schedule does not match to his office hours oh well you are just on your own. If you don't know accounting very well I would not take him for any classes!!

Good professor, but intimidates the class so no one wants to answer questions. Tests are okay, I struggled a little. Homework he goes over in class so that helps. DO THE HOMEWORK so you actually understand what is going on. If you need help, ask. I would say ask after class or during office hours though.

One of the best accounting professors I've had so far. Does all the homework in class, and then you turn it in on exam days for credit. Gives you a few take home quizzes which helps your grade out a lot. Will take his class in future if it is offered.

Prof Kickham is a great teacher. Took this course in the summer and couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. Very easy to understand. Come to class and you will pass.

He is very knowledgeable in the field of accounting, but he's an old and grumpy man. He would show up 10-15 minutes late and take a 20 minute break halfway through class. He answered "I don't know" to student questions. Make sure you hear him the first time he mumbles your name, and don't fold your assignments the incorrect way either.

Very hard tests and like 213, there will be homework to do every week. However, he does explain it in class and let it be turned in before the test. The tests are very hard if you do not study, but he gives a lot of easy take home portions that will help to boost your grade. I got a 49 on the first test and thought I was done, but I managed a 75

Homework is time consuming but he does go over it in class. Tests are very hard, but if you do well on the take home portions you will do alright. Don't skip class and ask questions and he will do whatever he can to help you.

You definately have to go to class to pass. His exams are difficult. However he goes over the homework eveyday so you can wait to do the homework. I would not take him again solely because he is boring and a very difficult grader. A lot of time he just rambles about nothing.
