Goes through the material very quickly. Be ready to take notes and review missed questions on exam A before taking part B.

The best professor I have had at Speed. Class has a large workload: weekly homework, 4 page exam, and quiz. Also has minimum homework and participation scores to get above a C-. Seems intimidating but will answer questions one-on-one. Grades are adjusted at the end and almost everyone passes. Work hard and you will earn a good grade.

ENGR 102 is a class that freshman fear. Im here to set the record straight; this class isnt as hard as people say. If you put in the work and do old test files you will get a B or greater

I accidentally slept in for one of our thirteen tests, but I talked to him about it and he was flexible. You drop your lowest test grade and at the end of the course, the curve is huge. I ended with a 90 but got an A (even though the class is plus/minus), and I've heard of WAY bigger curves. If you took BC in high school you'll be fine.

Flies through material in class, so it's really hard to keep up. Have to mostly teach yourself the material. Weekly homework and exams. Expect to spend 5 or more hours a week outside of class. Out of touch and not very helpful.

Came into Speed School with 5's on both AB and BC Calculus. Took ENGR 101 (Calc 1) and got a B overall. The content is tricky so you have to study. Weekly homework and 4 page exams every week. Make sure you find a group of people to help you and work as many practice tests as you can. Calculus is not easy and it will take a lot of effort to get A

Dr. Tyler is an excellent teacher, and it shows because of how long he's been with the university. The class is tough, but you can do well if you put in the effort. It is a very time consuming subject as the material is not always easy, but if you pay attention in lectures, take good notes, do the homework, and study, you'll do fine.

Does a great job. Has the wisdom of many years and can be amusing with stories and interactions with 2nd prof., Dr. Ralston. Class is extremely difficult and a full exam is given every week. Material is covered very quickly, like having a fire hose in your face. But effort will reap reward and its worth it to have Dr. Tyler

Larry Tyler is a great professor. You have an exam every week, and they can be difficult. There was a few times I went to his office to ask questions and he answered them. Attendance counts for a portion of your grade. Even though calculus is incredibly difficult, I learned more in one semester than I did in the previous years. Great Professor!

I took this course Fall 2014 and this course is really dumb. They are teaching you to not learn what you are doing and see if you can squeeze by. I hate Speed School because all of their courses are weed-outs but this teacher is out of touch and too old to be teaching.

The class is worth 4 credit hours compared to other 4 credit hour classes it seems like it should be worth about 15. If you enjoy monotonous structure and doing a huge work load every week then you will love this class. Every week: 20-40 online homework questions hour long quiz 8 AM exam videos pop quiz over video Stay on your game.

Dr. Tyler is an amazing teacher. He is in love with Calculus and it shows in his teaching. Usually paired with Dr. Ralston, those two are a powerful combination. Their teaching styles complement each other well. The class will be very difficult, but if you understand the homework very well, you should be okay. It's hard, but it's consistently hard

Dr. Tyler is a man in love with his own engineering IQ. He seldom tells jokes anyone gets, and enjoys explaining information in the most complex ways possible in order to appease his stegosaurus. Really though, he knows his stuff, but could teach with the intent to help student learn rather than stroke his own intelligence.

Dr. Tyler is the typical old-school engineer. He takes no lip, listens to no excuses, and will never let up. If you want to pass his classes, you have to go to class. My biggest tip, as someone who has survived Fundamentals, is to get ahead, and stay ahead. Be prepared, as this will likely be the hardest you have ever worked in your life.

This is one of the hardest classes i've ever taken. Tyler's a great professor, he's clear in his lectures, and is very passionate about calculus. However, there's a test every Thursday at 8am and an online quiz every Tuesday night, so this class can get really challenging really fast. Study, study, study

A very, very experienced, smart, and fantastic teacher. He is very snarky in class, but he is still great. He has survived (over his career) three heart attacks during class, but class continued, and he continues on, strong as ever. Dr. Tyler is a lovable old curmudgeon of a man. The class is very difficult (it's engineering calc; it's always hard)

Expects a lot. Slower-paced than Ralston. He handwrites tests & his writing can be hard to read. Funny in class, more curt 1-on-1. Works hard & cares about students. Took 4 classes under him & worked as a grader for him for 3 years, & I have immense respect for him. Work hard in his class--it will impact the rest of your Speed School experience.
