honestly this was my least favorite class i have ever taken. she is very narrow minded which contradicts the personality of an anthropologist. she is an unreasonable grader and if you dont agree with everything she says then dont expect to do well. i would definitely NOT recommend her to anyone.

really interesting class, entire class is discussion based each person turns in 3 and you discuss everyones on different days. one paper, midterm, group presentation and a final. some of the books are boring but over all good class, not too difficult

Unhelpful and unapproachable. I agree with everyone else, she only likes you if you agree with her views, and she clearly displays favoritism in lectures and discussions (even on blackboard!!). Very condescending and narrow minded. Seems like a cool person, but only if you're like-minded.

Agree with her and you'll get a passing grade. Her lecture style leaves the student to figure out the point of the course. She wants the student to struggle and isn't willing to give much guidance. She doesn't have a rational grading method. Her tests ask the student to synthesize data in a manner contrary to class discussions. Take ANY other prof.

This class was really boring for me. I guess a few parts were sort of interesting but for the most part I was struggling to stay awake. There is required reading almost every class and a field project due at the end of the semester. It wasn't to hard of a class.

Pretty good class. Various readings and movies, lots of class discussions. Only 3 tests in total, final isn't cumulative. Easy to get an A if you do the study guides she gives you for the tests. One field project (paper). Gives extra credit if you participate in class.

If you are thinking of taking ANTH 340-Invention of Race....PLEASE for your own SANITY..DO NOT TAKE IT!!! This class is PAINFUL. You are assigned entirely too much reading, write 5-6 essays and the discussions (every class) are so boring. SAVE YOURSELVES!

predominantly boring class. gives study guides for the tests which is fantastic. go to class-even on movie days. movie questions are always on the test. don't necessarily need to keep up with reading because all that you need to know about it is discussed in class. i did keep up and got an A, but i feel like i could've done okay without it.

Dr. Lewis only lectures and her classes can be pretty boring, but she doesn't have an attendance policy (even though you should go at least every other day if you want a good grade). Most of the movies she shows are available in the library, so if you want to skip class do it on those days.
