If she doesn't like you (and finds out who you are), your grade will suffer. Emotional market, IMO. And the class is exceptionally boring. She talks a lot about her own research, but it's not engaging. Avoid this class. It's poorly delivered.

I look back on this as the single worst class I took at McGill, by a pretty wide margin. Despite this being an introductory class, Bossen spend almost all of her time on her own research - which is less than major in the feild. Virtually no time was spent on the basics of Anthro. Lectures were directionless and embarassing, and grading random.

she is a fine professor and while her class is not demanding whatsoever in terms of work or reading, the class is extremely boring.what i found most frustrating were the exams were based on absolutely useless material and the grading was ridiculous, the grading was completely random but at the same time hard to get better than a B.

the professor is clearly knowledgable within her field, but obviously has no clue how to engage her students, or how to convey her information and intelligence in a manner that interests an outsider. i was considering taking furthur courses in anthropology, but i was dissauded after this class . grades are distributed seemingly at random.

Well she can seem quite confused at times....but she was honestly the best prof i had in my first semester at Mcgill.....she is helpful to see in her office...and she is not that demanding in terms of reading and exams....all her course needs is a little engagement...if you have it....it should be easy...don' listen to the other comments!

Lovely lady but the classes are dead boring, I was considering majoring in anthropology and this class is one of the main reasons I decided not to. I learned very little, and everything I did learn was from the books not from her. Her own book was unbelievably boring. I would strongly suggest that you do NOT take this class unless it is required!

She made anthropology jokes that were so painfully lame you had to laugh. Even made a joke about****. Lost the battle with technology every day. Learned a lot about Chinese farmer women and Guatemalan market people. Totally random, useless knowledge overall. Exams were all about her time in China. As are definately possible. Thats about it.

ok, it has been 2 years since I took this woman's course, but even still, she stands out as one of the worst profs. i had at mcgill. she seemed grumpy and very much uninterested in hearing student opinions that did not match her own. and her book was boring. try not to take this class, if possible.

Don't waste your time with this class. She is not a good lecturer and the material is not at all stimulating. Not only is the class lacking in any real value, but the exams are just a laugh and a half - the questions come from nowhere and have no pertinence. Bossen herself is not a good lecturer and gets off track all the time. Don't take anth2
