The only reason why people show up in class is because she takes attendance. She just stands up in front of the class and talks for two hours straight. She overcomplicates everything by giving packets of directions over an essay. She gives very little feedback and is overly nit picky. Very tidius professor whould never take a class with her again.

This professor was passionate, but about everything except the reading that was assigned to a specific day. She constantly went off topic and only spent a small fraction of the time helping us analyze the text. It's not a super hard class but I didn't learn anything that would help me in the future with the English major.

Dr. Hendrix is very passionate about English; she gives lectures for most/all of class and tends to go off topic for sustained periods of time. This was frustrating for me personally but if you like hearing lectures about historical context and traditional interpretations of literature, you will like her class.

"lecture heavy" which means that she will use the entire 4-hour class to summarize plays assigned for reading and go on tangents not directly related to the topic. Instead of teaching the class how to analyze the translation of Shakespeare's texts to film, you will watch her analyze components of the film. Knowledgeable but not a great teacher.

I've taken Hendrix twice before and I'm now in my third class with her. I try to take one of her courses once per semester (though I don't recommend more than that since she does give a bit of work). She's been my favorite professor at State so far and I've learned a lot from her and her lectures.

If you are a serious English major and are looking to challenge yourself, Dr. Hendrix is for you. Her class tends to be lecture heavy with a few pop quizzes sprinkled in throughout the semester. However, the bulk of your grade will be from the final, which consists of a written essay, and an 8-10 page formal essay.

Very friendly and a good lecturer. Even though her reputation proceeds her in the ENGL dept, the "lady" half in the famous duo, "Lord and Lady Hendrix," I personally didn't find her class anywhere near as challenging as her reputation projects. I learned a lot, I read a lot of unusual work, I enjoyed her lectures, overall a great class.

Dr. Hendrix is a old school so her classes are all lecture. She talks quickly and constantly and assigns a big chunk of reading every night. The lecture rehashes the reading. Four-ish quizzes per semester, one big paper. She is SUPER SMART. She goes on tangents but they are all interesting and educational. She is a goldmine of information.

Very nice and social professor. Bulk of grade was based on a paper packet, a final, and pop quizzes. Reading assignments weren't too heavy. Will not allow use of any technology. Sometimes it was hard not to zone out on lectures, especially with no breaks in the 2 hr class. Grades very, very hard on essays.

Grades harsh but fair. she will also talk and talk and talk and talk and talk, often long after anything she is saying is of any interest. seriously, expect her to go on more unnecessary tangents than almost any other teacher. she is nice though, not quite as funny as she thinks, but a good teacher. but her constant tangents almost ruin the class.

As a person, she is lovely; as a professor, I found her boring. She lectures all class but her lectures are, for the most part, a very detailed summary of the readings. If she didn't give out pop quizzes, I would not have even done the reading. I was expecting mythology to by much more fun but two hours with her and I had to struggle to stay awake.

Her class is hard but she herself is really great! If you struggle, make sure you talk to her. There are quizzes, two papers, a midterm and a final. Make sure you take great notes in lecture and read before class. Doing this will ensure a high grade. Basically, if you do really good on the midterm, the final paper and final exam, you'll pass.

Lady Hendrix is a great person, but she expects nothing but your best. I wasn't thrilled having her this semester, but I worked hard on my term paper and actually talked with her this semester after class to understand how to make my paper better. The key is communication. She's a nice and caring person, but she's no push over. Prepare to work.

Honestly, this was one of the toughest courses I've taken at Fresno State. Classes were predominantly lectures going over assigned reading... not too bad despite professor's tendency to constantly stray off topic. The brunt of your grade is your term paper packet and your final. I got a B -- but I've never worked so hard for a B in my life.

I heard you must go through Lord and Lady Hendrix at least once. I don't understand why they're so dreaded and notorious in the English department. Dr Hendrix is very nice, though her lectures are a little difficult to follow, and she's a very detailed and tough grader. But overall, she's a pretty good teacher.

I've never worked harder for a passing grade in a class, but I learned a lot. Hendrix is very tough but she knows her stuff. She does tend to go off topic and on long spiels but when she's on topic, she's on point. I felt very challenged by her (in a good way) and am taking Chaucer with her this semester. Definitely don't take for an easy grade.

While Dr. Hendrix does offer a lot of feedback and help, she never makes it clear as to what she wants. She never stays on topic and I don't feel like I learned much in this class. I definitely wouldn't take a course with her again.

I've taken Hendrix for three classes, and maintained a solid B for all 3. She won't put up with low effort, and since there are few assignments worth anything, your grade rides on your final and your major paper assignment. Other than that, she is probably one of the most knowledgeable professors on her subjects. You will learn a lot with her.
