There is a lecture every class and it is important to take notes and pay attention because she doesn't post her powerpoint online and the information from the lectures will be on the exam. She makes CRIMJ interesting and has a lively personality. She is helpful and always open to discussion. Tests are long essay questions along with other stuff.

Super interesting, great sense of humor, and set up her expectations from the get go. Every class I took with her was enjoyable, and I learned things that have stuck with me years later.

Dr. Drapela is one of my favorite professors at WSUV. I took 3 of her classes (CJ 330, Violence Towards Women, CJ 101), and I would definitely take another. Her lectures (powerpoints) are very clear and straightforward. They contain a lot of information, which makes learning the material easy and fun. Very helpful and knowledgeable!

Expect to read several books. Way too many. Only 2 tests, but they are difficult. She is engaging and knowledgeable. No mandatory attendance but take good notes. Gives you test questions beforehand but does not guarantee good grade. Tenure attitude. Cares about successful students but might not change certain aspects of teaching.

She is absolutely amazing. I find her extremely effective in her teaching methods. She expects well informed comments in class. Do the reading and most of all do your job! Dr. Drapela continue the good work you are changing the lives of your students. That is why you get a chili paper. You have an attractive mind and soul.

Excellent prof. Very helpful. You work hard for your grades, but she works hard to teach you as well. Well worth the challenge based on what you learn. I took multiple classes with her from 100 level on up.

If you're like me and enjoy a class structured around 1 term paper and 2 exams, take her class! Exams are challenging so be well prepared, but she provided the potential questions ahead of time. Attend all lectures and read the material. She is always willing to help and meet with students!

Not a challenging class if you took other Crim J classes, and exams are not easy but fair. Lots of readings that are not necessary. Biggest pet-peeve about her is her lectures. She repeats same thing over and over in different ways, which could make you go crazy. She lectures like she is reading a a novel out loud. Could be annoying sometimes.

Nice and respectful for the most part. Way too much reading. Drapela and Long are nightmares on that. Could teach just as well with half of reading. Takes long for email responses. Is approachable. If you're taking more than 3 classes along with this one, chances are you will flunk one. Knows her stuff but kind of egoistic at times. Won't change

GREAT professor who knows her stuff, is engaging and fun. I truly appreciate a prof who loves their subject, and Dr Drapela DOES. Tests are, as another said, M/C T/F and essay... NO NOTES. DO THE READING, COME TO CLASS (without being the jerk sleeping or texting) and you'll do fine. Definitely taking more classes from her!

Dr. Drapela is an awesome teacher. She knows and is passionate about her topic. She is tough, but more then will to meet one-on-one to help. This course is violence towards women, and she does not take joking about the topic well. There were males in the course when I took it and she made sure their opinions were heard.

This is an excellent course. Dr. Drapela is very educated in this field, and she loves to hear back from her students. I didn't get any sense that she had a liberal bias in the classroom. She gave us the final early, which was nice, and told us well in advance about our term paper. All in all a great course. I highly recommend you take it!
