History of the 60's was great. Larry knows everything there is to know about what was going on in Vancouver during that time period (he wrote the class text on it) and is open to differences in opinion. Had to attend, did one in class presentation but was easy enough if you did the readings. Term parper was open to you choosing the topic.Great guy!

Awful prof. He will test you on trivia and will include things on his tests that were not discussed in class or not part of our required readings. If you like trivia and unclear expectations, take this class.

A former Marxist gone Centrist. He attempts to "balance" the left slanting history you will normally receive. Expected some sort of ultra-conservative liberal bashing from the reviews and was sorely disappointed. Not recommended for liberal arts students without open minds.

Freelanced the curriculum to the point of challenging the class to come up with difficul topics. Arrognatly baited and mocked students who didn't agree with his strong conservative ideas. Stated the Quebecois were inherently corrupt and thought the idea of feminist perspectives on history laughable.

A taller non-Jewish John Stewart. He has a great sense of humour that is, As expected, largely politically based. Maybe sometimes a little hard to hear but he genuinely wants to prepare students for higher level history classes by engaging them in discussions that some people with no sense of humour apparently are offended by. Good prof good class!

Terrible class and prof. He has a very juvenile sense of humor and tends to waste class times arguing over his extremely conservative views. Extremely bias on every topic. He is very unclear about tests and term papers. Try to take the course with another prof if possible.

Fantastic prof, absolutely perfect for the course I took. Better with students further along in the field I'd expect, but who isn't? Opinionated but not biased. Frank and fair. Excellent.

He is hilarious while lecturing, but I found the important points of the lectures hard to keep up with. Also, he tested on very specific details, which made the tests hard to study for. The mid-term was entirely MC, and the final was MC with one essay question. The term paper was marked very fairly. He's funny, but a bit hard to follow at times.

If you think it's daring to say that Africa is failing economically because Africans have a bad work ethic, you'll love this guy. One of those reactionaries who thinks his biases make him courageous. That said, he won't take points off if you disagree with him - but if you're a liberal, prepare to be very frustrated.

Not overly inspiring, but certainly entertaining prof. Aronsen has a really subtle dry wit and a penchant for making fun of the French, "academics", and "progresive NDP-ers". Interesting lectures and the tests were decent.

The essay was a bit much, over 600 pages in total plus the text. I have say, some of those questions on the midterm and final were outrageous and irrelevant!! Other than that it was one of the most beneficial classes I have ever taken and the information i learned in this class will help me for the rest of my life.

Really nice guy but seems like he`d be better in a class of 8-10 people. Couldn`t hear him. Can be funny at times. Hard to know what to study for with him though.
