He will make you hate Shakespeare. You have two exams so if you fail one you're screwed. The quizzes are IRRELEVANT. The exams consist of one take home essay. I had to re read the essay questions five times before I understood what I had to do. He's brilliant but doesn't know how to teach very well.

Rhu is brilliant, he has his PhD from Harvard. He does lecture and teach the class as a history class more than an English class. There's little discussion. He sets the bar high for students so if you want to learn, take his class. Talk to him about the essays and quizzes because he will help you. Be prepared to work hard. It's worth it though

Rhu is brilliant and this is a lecture class with little discussion. He sets the bar high for students so if you want to learn, take his class. If you talk to him about the essays and quizzes (which you have every time you read), he will help you. You have to work in this class but if you enjoy English, it is worth it.

I had to take this class for a core requirement but he was the worst professor I ever had. We rambled and never stayed on topic. We had a quiz after we read a play. We also had a take home essay for every exam and the essay topic never made sense. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Although he is a very knowledgeable professor, his assignments are very vague. His quizzes cover insignificant material not even relevant to the TWO exams (only two) you will take in there. His exams are also vague, and for the first one you're expected to memorize 30 sonnets and provide details. Teaches as a history class. Vague lectures. Boring.

Terrible. He has a raspy quiet monotone voice, he teaches an English Class as a History class. He is impossible to pay attention to. The grades he gives do not reflect what you learn in the course. Ex. He makes you watch films about history, and then quizzes you about which characters did what insignificant thing, not what actually happened.

HORRIBLE professor. He taught his 16th century English class as a history class. Barely goes over the readings--just lectures on the history and background. Monotone voice. Expects you to memorize 30 poems for a test. Grades harshly. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

You definitely have to keep up with your reading, which is a lot. But he gives study sheets before tests so if you put in the work to prepare, there will be no surprises. Class was fairly interesting and I don't even like literature. I would take him again.

he loves showing you how smart he is, but i would rather be anywhere but in a room with this guy. boring is an understatement. he makes jokes about the renaissance and then only he laughs at them. i wish i never ever ever ever ever took his course.

He's very smart and knows everything about everything. He can go off on a tangent. Make sure you read everything because the tests had identification of themes and excerpts from the things we read. he can be a little unclear though and if you ask a question his answers can be long and you may not end up getting your answer

Don't take British Lit with him. He expects ridiculous amounts of reading in short amounts of time, my TA was crap, and I have no idea what's going to be on the one exam we've had this quarter, it'll be a miracle if anyone passes. Yes, he's clearly bright and kind, but this class is not one he should be teaching.

I worked very hard in this class, ready every book at least once, and still made a B+. Rhu is intelligent, but arrogant. He talks for the entire class period about his opinions of the literature, and is baffled when students cannot understand/relate. I was very disappointed with this "Honors" class.

Dr. Rhu is a very enthusiastic professor. He loves the subject he teaches - Shakespeare - and it shows. He is very helpful and works hard to assist students' understanding. The subject matter is simply difficult and while I loved the class, I am not sure what my final grade will reveal.

he is the definition of monotonous! if it wasn't for the TAs then me and 200 other ppl would have failed this class. he's on a harvard board for shakespeare, aka even the TAs couldnt get what he said and forget asking a q bc youll get a thesis in return rather than an answer. he is a very nice man. but i can't deal with incredibly monotone prof

Dr. Rhu is obviously brilliant. But his teaching style is a little hard to follow. He doesn't go over plot at all, and the tests are very difficult. I had NO idea what was going on in class a lot of days.

i was looking forward to this class prior to taking it. rhu is a very intelligent professor, but should probably be teaching a sociology class instead of shakespeare. he Maybe spoke on topic 25 minutes out of an hour and a half long class.

Really nice guy..and really really smart. Definetly know's his subject. He can be very boring though and the tests are very hard. All identifications from Shak. tragedies...and he picks ones you can't decipher. Only recommend this class if you LOVE shakespeare and thoroughly understand it.

Rhu really knows his stuff. You have to understand the works to do well in his class though. he won't spoon feed you plots but gives you great insights to shakespeares tradgies. He is too intellegent to be teaching (phd from harvard). the classes are boring if you don't like shakespeare though.
