Professor Maddox is a really nice woman, but she has a couple flaws in the way she teaches class that really irritates me. She is not clear at all about the assignments we have and expects us to meet her expectations. I was so confused the entire time I was in her class....

Really clear about safety and projects. I got to work with materials I have never thought of before. Very kind and will spend her own time outside of class so that you can get better. I felt challenged and ended up with work I never thought I would be able to make. If you want to find out really interesting stuff take this class

Totally talented and knowledgeable sculptor, but not a great professor at all. Maddox is rarely clear in her assignments, and not that good at explaining things. I didn't grow as an artist and really felt held back by this course and her confusing directions

Awesome. Took her class about a year ago. She kept talking about preparation, sketchbook, research and things. Knows a lot about sculpture. Now I realize she was right and it really is a class of you dont know what you have till its gone. Always ready to help.h

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She expects an unreasonable amount for an intro-level 3D class. She does NOT go over any of the assignments or syllabus, just posts it on blackboard (usually at the weirdest times during the night or weekends.) She is VERY critical on projects and critiques- she does not care if she hurts your feelings. I've cried.

First time you here about a problem is in the grading notes. She will expect you to have done things she never mentioned and give you a hard time about it. If you feel like you might be missing something or even if you don't, ask her until she tells you, she avoids the question like a politican

I would recommend taking this class with another teacher. When she gives her assignments she barley knows them. She had to ask the students what she said if another student wasn't there when she said it. She grades on whether she likes it or not. You have to ask her multiple times for help. Overall she's only a sculptor & doesn't know how to teach.

Maddox turned out to be a pretty cool, easy person. Very bad at explaining things. Draws a bad sketch on the board and gestures to it "you sort of. you know. like. yeah." Sketchbook expectations annoying but I got an A for my sketchbook. Hard to pick out when she's giving an assignment. Suggestions are assignments. But overall okay.

Very nice professor, hard to hear due to her accent, but I got used to it after a few weeks. Very helpful, always want you to explore new materials and technique, will teach you how to use any machines or materials if you ask. She doesn't know how many projects are there in her class, has no idea what the next project would be.

overall she's a good professor. although i found myself not understanding projects in the beginning, it wasn't hard to figure them out. I wish i tried harder with each project and maybe had more time to do them. she expects you to fill a sketchbook by the end of the class so don't forget to write in it throughout the semester! very nice lady.

I used to strongly dislike Maddox because she can be brutally honest about her critiques, but in the end she's really just trying to help you improve and tease you into doing better. The projects (4) were interesting but could be challenging & time consuming. You will have to put in lots of work & effort to get that A.

Ohhhh where to start..Do not take this teacher unless you have to. She takes your ideas and then makes them her own and if you dont do what she wants you to do she will grade you down. She is HARDCORE about sketchbooks, have to have it full by the end of semester. And attendance is SUPER mandatory yet useless most of the time. Just dont take her.
