bad thing- lots of assignments but the good thing is he is a great teacher who helped me overcome my hate for reading.. he really helps and I'm so sad that i was in his last class. I hope he would continue teaching.

First half of class is pretty easy - basic work. After the dept exam you have to write 3 papers w/a deadline before end of semester. These 3 papers will decide your letter grade.Turned mine in close to deadline and died waiting for my grades, ended up w/an A but his grading takes long so submit early. He responds to emails.

Don't take his1302 class. He tries to fit a completely insane amount of work into a freshman level course, and grades difficultly. I asked for help one time and all I got was a "Well, I dont know what to tell you..."; He also requires you purchase his (expensive) self-written books. Cannot pass without them. Not available used.

Lots of writing to get done, but pretty simple work. He does take A LONG time to email you back so patience is certainly a virtue. He has no deadlines, only recom. ones so you don't get behind. I would definitely recommend, he just isn't good at emailing back within 24 hours.

the book is somting u can buy used and can still register to the web, online test were so easy, and papers you have to pay attention at the beggining he explains the patterns which he uses alot in future classes. readings are short ans easy just do them, no attendence, very helpful, the brochure will just count for 25 as long as u turn it in. great

Took the online class. Very easy, discussions were about elements of one specific short story. Kind of slow on grading papers but if your paper has errors, you can revise it and resend it and it doesn't count against you. Stories and papers all correspond to the element assigned. Not tricks or gimmicks.Straightforward class.

I agree Professor Polnac is a man of few words,but he is a great person and if you don't understand something you should ask him. He is open to answering any questions you may have. I like the way he designs the course, his class prepares you for any type of paper you will have to write in college.

Mr. Polnac is pretty awesome. He is a man of few words though and it is true that he isn't very clear on explaining things. But all you have to do is ask and he helps you out. Dont be so afraid to ask! His homework is simple as long as you read the stories he assigns. I liked him alot and this is the 2nd time I have taken a class with him.

He was an okay teacher. The class itself was a breeze. Readings every night, but it never took more the 20 minutes. Tests were primarily multiple choice with a few short essay questions. My biggest concern with the class is that he was never clear on much. There were times when the whole class was confused on rules concerning papers or tests.

He was a great English teacher. He wrot both textbooks that he uses in his class, which everything he talks about in class is in the book word from word. Its best to do every homework and assignments and you will do GREAT! He tries to make sure you pass his class.

I took this class online. He assigns A LOT of reading/ writing and if you don't stay on top of everything from the beginning then you will fall behind. He takes like 2 wks to grade your work and/or respond to you. Worst of all, it's the deadline to submit grades and he still hasn't graded my final assignment or given me my final grade!!

Took the distance learning class and would never do it again. So many assignments and reading. You have to write A LOT! The instructions are easy and it is easy but very time consuming and a lot of reading and assignments. If you have the time and patience then this is up your alley, but it's a lot to do.

Took the Distance Learning version. There is A LOT of writing. Lots of little assignments that take quite a bit of time and you have to do most of them just to get a C. Many different documents to keep track of all over Blackboard. He gives like two-word or one sentence comments on papers. That's all you ever hear from him. Probably better live.

polnac is really nice. he is understanding on helping you get your questions answered. i love the fact that he will let you redo a paper as many times as you want to get a better grade. He explains things very well. I hate writing, but i like his class. his class goes by really fast. i reccommend you take his class if you have to take Comp 1 :)
