Very unorganized class. Syllabus and class notes are very, very difficult to follow, prof responds to emails slowly and vaguely. He's decent at responding in class. Feedback for assignments are not great either.

Very bizarre class. Showed up to the first week of classes, then realized he only assigns like 7 assignments for the ENTIRE semester, thus going to class is not important at all. He makes you buy the textbooks for literally 2 questions from all the assignments, but never uses it elsewhere. Also no final exam (or any, for that matter).

class is so boring and lectures were all over the place. class shouldn't be too bad if you just do the practice quizzes over and over again. prof was nice though

Required the book but only used it twice Didn't understand how to work the course page & regularly forgot to make readings, assignment information, & rubrics visible Rather hard to communicate with outside of class, often took days to reply to emails Likes to walk around and get in your face in lectures to get participation

Syllabus is provided with clear grade percentages, expectations, and the anticipated progress for every lecture including the required reading, exercises, and home works. The online home works are done on Canvas and Grade Grinder, both with unlimited tries. I chose to divide my final test in six quizzes that can be taken after lectures in the lab.

Unorganized and terrible at keeping on track during lecture. There's always a line for his office hours cuz he can't teach to save his life. There were many times that he didn't show up to his own office hours without telling anyone which is frustrating since he doesnt post things on connect until a couple days before it's due. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS

Horrible prof! Would dock off all of your peer grades (worth 15%) you earned at the end, which turned your A+ into A-. Very unclear in syllabus which didn't mention that peer grades involve conscientious grading to the assigned peers, and he would assign you zero marks in peer grades if he thinks you are not conscientious.

Most unclear, confusing, disorganized, horrible professor I have EVER had over my three years at UBC. He didnt have a set syllabus which leaves unclear expectations and grading methods, so when you come back to look at your grades you wonder why you got a total grade of A+ turn into a B. Language in class & assignments so unintelligible. dont take

Terrible class. Do not take if you have a hard time learning things on your own. It might be easy but it might be the most boring class I have ever taken. As an international student, if you are paying 3k for this class, you are making a BIG MISTAKE.

Took this course online. Emailed him a couple times about the course. He probably got frustrated or something and just stopped replying me at all. Very unhelpful prof.

Materials can be presented better. Online quizzes are very poorly worded you actually spend more time figuring out what it is he's trying to ask rather than working on the actual questions. Lectures are mostly bland but that's not to say there's nothing interesting. Easy if you keep up with the quizzes. Otherwise it's playing catch up.

Extremely disorganized - to the point where it affects his grading and teaching. If you're lucky enough to have him reply to your e-mails, you will probably get very vague answers. I was in the distance learning section where e-mail correspondence is vital, especially when you need things explained or require feedback on your work. Avoid !

Leslie Burkholder was a very unorganized professor which affected the way he taught, and graded. Throughout the course he lost some of my assignments which he then counted as "zeros" and affected my grade greatly. He then put in a wrong overall final grade at the end of term, which i then had to personally get fixed by the head of the PHIL dept.

Stay away from this class at all costs. Boring as hell, and attendance doesn't matter besides clickers. If you do show up, you will wind up being more confused by his convoluted phrasing that he sticks to despite it making no sense. Tests are easy, just do the practice homework because the online tests are from the same question bank. No final.

Such a boring class, though the professor is fine. Attendance doesn't matter, skip a few classes. But the tests rally killed me. You need to spend so many time on the tests. Very boring. Nothing to learn.
