Very unusual assignments, gives no clues about what she wants from you. And then she's inconsistent about marking them. You can get an A on one, do the same sort of thing on the next assignment and get a C or lower. Very confusing, not very helpful, but the class was interesting.

Horrible prof. Worst mark I've had in my 4 years at Laurier, I read the instructions, had no idea what she was asking for!! I took her for Shakespeare and filmWhen i went for help she was beyond rude! I hope she gets fired, ruined a course I was very interested in. Dont take her course. It's useless and so is she

If you wanna high school class, then take Odell's courses. She's obviously not university caliber, but hey, if you suck up, you'll do great!

She is AMAZING. I would take any class that she teaches. She is so exciting and really knows about the subject. She also runs a great seminar. I would HIGHLY recommend her as a professor to anyone who likes English at all :)

The course leans heavily on the text, but there is no reason NOT to get a good mark. O'Dell is extremely passionate about the subjects she teaches, and her passion is relatively contagious. I strongly suggest keeping up with the readings (you'll regret it if you don't). Easy marker - if you do poorly it's just for lack of trying! Good course/prof.

Terrible. Arrogant speaker who babbles on about nothing. Course outline could not be a bigger mystery. Marking is terribly inconsistent and seems to be completely based on how many times you quote the text. Ruined a great course with perhaps the worst teaching I have ever experienced.

Ugh, I don’t even know where to begin. Horrendous course outline, with ridiculous expectations. Makes no attempts to further course material but rather drones on about herself and her own thoughts. When you write a paper be prepared for her to examine it heavily towards the course content…which she never covers.

This is a fantastic class for anyone looking for a fourth year seminar! She really encourages you to be creative and to enjoy this seminar as much as possible; Hamlet will never look the same to you. She is fun and energetic; this term just flew by!

She was passionate about what she taught. While the assignments could appear vague, they were designed to inspire creative thought. I really liked how no idea was a bad idea, and we were encouraged to look at the plays from different viewpoints. She was also easy to approach regarding assignments.

She had this really annoying way of trying to make everything seem theatrical and inspiring. She would hang onto the end of every sentence as if it had been incredibly moving. Her way of marking isn't consistent, and you'll walk away from a conversation thinking that she'd been helpful when really she wasn't.

Leslie O'Dell likes to think she knows everything in her subject. However, when it comes down to it she does not know how to discuss her ideas to her students. She does not like to give students any guidance at all and if asked for any is extremely vague in her answer. One of my most horrible profs EVER.

Horrible prof. Very unclear about assignments and her marking is off. She grades you well for one assigment, then grades you terribly for another that includes the same ideas as the first! Don't bother asking her for clarification with assignments; she doesn't provide it very well.

She is enthusiastic about the subjects she teaches, gets excited and has a deep interest in the material. However she is an extremely hard marker and doesnt really clarify how to improve upon your work, also gives unique assignments which are often hard to understand

One of the BEST profs at Laurier, she makes class interesting and you actually want to go to it. Cutest lady ever, and very helpful IF you want it. Definately a tough marker, but well worth it once you get a good mark. I want to take more of her classes.

Very inspiring, engaged professor. No shortcuts but you get A LOT if you put in the work - which is fair. Forthcoming and helpful. I have done 4 years of University studies (canada, sweden etc) and she's EASILY the best.
