Leslie is caring, and passionate about syntax. Always comes prepared, but I found some of the lectures hard to follow. She is not consistent in drawing tree elements. Homework is difficult, she likes to challenge you. The time handed back for written work takes too long. Her tests are NOT a fair representation of what is practiced in class.

Leslie is fantastic. Courses are well-paced and understandable. She always makes sure that students have the chance to ask questions to further clarify difficult concepts. Takes the time to help everyone do the best they can. Also, she's very relaxing? Like, I never come to her classes with anxious anticipation. I always look forward to her classes

Leslie is a genuinely caring individual and she is so passionate about her work and she makes you passionate as well. Her classes were always so interesting. She is super kind and her classes were more informal and discussion-based than some others. Take her class if you prefer inductive learning to deductive learning.

If you have the opportunity to take Linguistics with Professor Saxon then I highly recommend you to take her class. She makes lectures interesting, treats her students with respect, and the tests and assignments are fair. Her class inspired me to continue on in Linguistics!

Take LING 311 (Syntax) with Leslie if you can! She understands the course content is tough for some and attempts to play up everyone's strengths by assigning varied class assignments (not just worksheets). Very helpful and slows the pace down when she sees students are struggling with a concept. I highly recommend!!

Leslie is an amazing instructor. I was really scared prior to the syntax class, because it has just never been my favourite, however, she is very easy-going and patient. If you do your work thoroughly, even if you don't feel confident about it, she will reward you. I love her!

Such a nice lady. Classes were always interesting enough and tests were straight forward. She'd tell you what sorts of things to expect, but there was the occasional curve ball. It's still easy enough to do well as long as you know the definitions. Definitely recommend.

Very nice woman and very smart. Her class is not easy but if you put in a decent effort it's very possible to get good grades. She takes into account the difficulty level when she marks, and she responds to emails and questions very quickly and thoroughly.

Oh my god, what was I thinking when I signed up for this class? It was not what I expected at all. Leslie was a nice woman, but I found her lectures so useless and boring that I just stopped going to class. It really brought my GPA down.

Any prof that has her Field Methods class over for a party to end class is good in my book. Very encouraging, even if the assignment she's marked totally kicked your ass! Also lets you redo assignments multiple times. (In this class, anyway.) Her passion for the Dene language family is infectious.
