Comment:

Professor Renner recognizes that the purpose of education is to educate, not to weed out. He did an excellent job of describing concepts with passion and depth. The class wasn't as theoretical as some math classes, but I think that makes sense, as there is a more theoretical 3000-level course. I would highly recommend any course he teaches.

Notes are a little scattered, but he explains concepts concepts clearly and provides examples in lectures to help you understand. Evaluations were all very fair. Material is straightforward. Stay on top of your work and I guarantee you will do well. Hands down one of the best profs I've had :)

Renner made funny jokes in lectures. He helped you on assignments if you asked for help and the assignments really forced you to learn the material. Not a tough marker. Great prof :)

Not sure why the ratings are lowish, Lex is the man! I've not had an issue with clarity with him, he has been more than accommodating when I've needed helpextra time on an assignment, his lectures are brilliant. He's almost always easy to follow, and his jokes are fantastic, my margins are full of them. Usually has fairly easy HW and exams, too.

Easy and clear prof who makes a lot of dorky jokes (I like it). The material can be a little too easy (yeah, apparently that's possible) which can make it boring sometimes. But if you're having problems with the material, he's great because he goes over everything more than once.

i took calc1100 because i didnt take calc in highshool. He didn't teach at all. Hard to follow his notes and the TA lectures were better. not a good prof, and don't bother going to class

Lex liked to perform his off beat humour routine in front of a large captive audience. However, his popularity is not indicative of his ability to teach in that setting. It was frightening the number of people who did not come to class after the first month.

Incredible prof! not only did he keep you laughing with the most inane and crazy comments ever, he was very good at conveying most of the material. It was a joy to go to class. Assignments could be tough as the course went on, but if you figured out the trick you had it. His lectures fell apart after mult'tive functions and into Gauss'n integers

Wow - I know math 30 is supposed to be easy - But getting through a whole year with Renner was a challenge. Sure he's funny - but he can't teach at all - and he makes the exams totally different than the practice exams - just to lower the marks

It's possible to get an A in this course without going to class ... but the four days before the exam when you teach yourself the entire course are hell on earth. Lex is a good guy, I wish I had gone to more classes just to hear his ridiculous jokes about derivatives and squirrels. Don't take a harder math when you can take Math 30.

yea ok hes not the best prof there is. you can basically learn from the text on your own. but going to class does help sometimes.. exams aren't too bad. n hes a really really sweet person =)
