I'm the UNDERGRAD doing her job. She'd torture us till 1am 2 get lessons OK'd. My job, kids & sleep were never respected. I'm a D strove to be critical but fair 2 L or R POV . She'd reduce "A"grades on excellent papers that challenged her narrow KoolAid & leaned Rep. I am disgusted and feel dirty that she got away with it. RUN NOW Fast

This was the worst class I ever took. Pershing is DISORGANIZED, unclear, repetitive, unhelpful, vague, and opinionated. This class is all over the place and has NO value in a higher education institution. It is a busy-work class that up to 16 hours of content a week that is meaningless. She cannot teach or run a class and shouldn't be a professor.

Expect weekly discussion forums, readings, pop-quizzes, . . . you name it. The HG course material is largely opinion-based and easy to digest, but the way grading is set up makes passing challening. Persh tends to be catty. Don't be surprised if you ask for help or clarification of class materials and receive a back-handed remark from her.

First of all this is an online class and I have never experienced something so complex oppose to my in person classes. YOU THINK MATH IS HARD THIS IS EVEN HARDER. She assigns 3-4 20 page articles for a quiz that asks about 5 questions. Her grading criteria is extremely strict and to be honest, very unnecessary.

Requires readings that take, literally, over 3 hours to read. On top of that, 2+ movies to watch outside of class. Then has a group present about what was read, her TA go over the same thing, then Linda goes over it. Incredibly repetitive. With all those readings, quizzes are only 5 super vague questions. Hard to pass.

took Hunger Games course. entire class taught by students. if you disagree with her/their opinion, too bad. class work isn't too hard, just be prepared to have one sided opinions forced on you.

Linda is very approachable and helpful. Although she might be a little late when grading submissions, and sometimes lets her TAs do the grading (they're much stricter for some reason) 3 projects and a propo video for an A. Overall, a fun and easy class, except the redundancy can make you wanna shoot yourself.

She tried her best to make this class fun and interesting for us. Student teachers try hard but their lectures hardly tie back to the hunger games. Class is designed to treat some groups of students unfairly comared to others but its all part of the learning experience. Its contract graded & for an A 3 projects and one group video is required.

Horrible teacher (Harry Potter). It was a really interesting class but the classes were taught mainly by a teaching team of fellow students who very obviously got all of their information off Wikipedia and copy and pasted it on the power points. Gave me no credit on an assignment because I didn't agree with her opinion, worst teacher I've ever had.

The entire Harry Potter course was student taught. Linda had a teaching team of 18 students and although the material seemed redundant at times I was always interested in the material and activities. This was her last semester teaching a HP course but it is the same set up for her Hunger Games course. 1 research paper and 1 creative final.

For a HP class don't expect to watch the movies and get by. a lot of busy work, and is based of her opinion, and asserts views that have no basis on anything JK rowling ever said. most lectures seemed like things i could read on wiki or a reddit thread, just not much room for creativity, and if you don't agree with her, well too bad, practically

I really did enjoy how much effort she puts into the course. Just because it's a Harry Potter course, don't expect it to be easy. Some of the lectures weren't relevant, but they were interesting to learn about. No "textbook" but you will need all 7 HP books. Sometimes has additional reading (30 pg essays) along with the books that are in tests

Most poorly executed class I have ever taken! Most of the material is opinion based, NO room for creativity. I expected to work in my HP class but this is ridiculous. Everything is harshly graded and barely worth 5 points. Not to mention the awful vibe created by the TAs who hunt through the class to call on people who clearly don't want to talk.

Now one would think that a class on Harry Potter would be fun and easy. WRONG. She makes this class way too hard for no apparent reason. Also, if you read this Dr. Pershing, don't be so closed minded. Just because someone doesn't agree with all of your feminist ideas, or that someone doesn't think that men are evil, doesn't make them bad! AVOID HER

She is all over the place with her grading and directions. One would think with a Disney class that it would be fun and exciting but she sucked all the fun out of it. It was as if the students were not able to have their own opinions. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. TURN BACK!!

AVOID THIS TEACHER. She constantly commits the fallacy repeated assertion: just because you repeat things over and over does not make the audience understand the concept. I've read ALL the readings I watch everything I'm an A/B student each semester yet somehow I DO NOT understand what her point is- please save your money, ACTUALLY LEARN ElSE WHERE

If you are not a radical feminist or cannot fake a belief in another person's views, do not take this course. Excessive reading was either too hard to understand or from websites like Cracked.com. And whenever someone in the class expressed an opinion that contrasted with hers, you are immediately dismissed or ignored. Avoid her if you can.

If you are looking for an easy A go elsewhere.Reading is imperative because you have to speak up at least every week in order to receive an A. This may seem like no big deal, but when you deal with heavy sociologically grounded topics you do not want to BS your answers. Pershing is passionate and I actually learned a lot from the class. ps I'm a guy

I took this class as an upper division requirement. Linda is fair and clearly lays out what she expects from you at the beginning of the semester. She does contract grading and attendance is required. We watched/analyzed a lot of films that I would have never watched on my own. Take it as an elective, easy & interesting.
