I had van blerkom for bio anth and liked her so much I requested her for my advisor! At first her quizzes were hard, but she's always willing to go over any questions and give extra help. I think she's intelligent and hilarious. Definitely recommend!

EXTREMELY intelligent, she really knows what she's talking about. She's also very opinionated and you'll realize that early on. She makes snarkysarcastic comments about ideas she doesn't agree with. But, if you ever tell her she has offended you, she apologizes genuinely and immediately. If I was more into the class I would've been more into her.

Dr. Van Blerkom really is a great professor. I learned a lot from her in her medical anthropology class. She covered the material in a cool way, and supplemented readings with actual things going in the medical anthropology community. The research paper was long and hard, but she helps you as much as she can. Exams are very fair; just study!

LVB is one of Drew's finest. Her courses are structured well and she gets through a lot of material. Tests and quizzes are fair and its easy to tell what she expects of you. She is nice, helpful, and pretty funny when she goes off on her tangents. Take as many classes as possible with her, you will learn so much and enjoy doing it.

Prof. Van Blerkom was a great prof. She was organized and clear with her lectures/notes, and the class was predictable (i.e. what would be covered, what would be on the test/quiz, etc). She's definitely approachable if you have a problem and is fair in her grading. Great class!

she is a hard tester, her multiple choice are a paragraph long! she is a very fair grader. she rants and raves about other topics in class for half of it as well, which does not help at all. she even married a guy from the circus who rode elephants, i swear she did, she tells us stories.

She's a great teacher, you learn so much from her. But she's tough, and has zero sympathy for anyone. Don't even think about cheating or plagirizing, she will NAIL you (and she'll try even if you didn't). Also, don't let here anywhere near an honors thesis, she has a habit of screwing people over.

Barring the individual who made the comment about her not being human, it seems everyone else is on crack. Her tests take far longer to complete than they should, she has a sympathy for her students akin to Hitler's for the Jews, and is a hypocrite as well. Would that I never took her class.
