She was my advisor all four years. If you are majoring in Spanish Teaching you will get her too. She TAKES FOREVER TO EMAIL YOU BACK. She is forgetful and will make your life hell when it comes to scheduling. You need your pin to register? TOO BAD. She's nice but she is so difficult to work with. She doesn't take into consideration your needs.

Unorganized. Her blackboard site is confusing and cluttered with random stuff from old classes. Then she'll randomly ask if we read a document on there, even when it wasn't on the syllabus. She also posts assignments at midnight before the actual class and expect you to have done the reading/homework. Her in-class activities are for elem students.

The topic that are covered r very interesting in SPAN 311. However, she presents it in a very unorganized way, and in the book for the class, you skip chapters completely, then come back to them. Many times, she'll ask you to do homework for the next class, and then not even bring up the topic or ask you to turn it in until the next week. Good luck

She spends most of the class speaking Spanish, responds to emails in Spanish, and the majority of the blackboard page is in Spanish. I understand that could be beneficial in an upper level Spanish class, but it does more harm than good in 100 level class. Don't schedule another class right after hers because she you'll be late to the next one.

Lisa Calvin is the worst professor I have ever had. She is very unorganized, and plans way too much for a 50 minute class. She does not respond to her e-mails when it is clear that she has been online. She sends mass e-mails with vague and confusing information at midnight the night before class about things that are important for the next class.

Contrary to the majority of the opinions on here, I enjoyed Dr. Calvin's class. She does give a lot of homework, but that's to be expected, because practice is crucial to mastering a foreign language. I would not suggest taking this course if you're looking for an easy A. With that being said, your Spanish will really improve.

Dr. Calvin is a really hard professor. She knows what you are capable of and expects that out of you, plus a little. She really knows her stuff and is a great teacher if you are willing to be a great student. Do not take her class if you aren't willing to put forth extra effort to really learn your subject material.

Dr. Calvin is very belittling, cruel, and sucks at teaching! She is a sadist! If you are someone who will ask questions DONT DO IT! She will intentionally make you feel insufficient. Out of our small class each individual hated her!

The most impossible professor I have ever had. Plays favorites and singles out individual students. Does not publish midterm grades. Requirements not clear. Unpleasant to work with. Calvin is the worst professor I have had in my four years at ISU. If you are not one of her favorites, you can kiss your good grade goodbye. Also, if you don't like acting out ridiculous skits in front of the class, then you should not take her classes.
